What's The Story Behind Your FR Handle?

I've always wondered about the origins and meanings (if any) behind others Freeper handles. Its a quiet Sunday morning, so I thought it would be an interesting topic to start the day.

What's the story behind your handle?

I lurked for a couple years but wanted to speak up, hated creepy Clinton.
My dog Durango was walking in the room when I decided to sign in and we had nicknamed him sweetiepiezer.
Check out his picture on my home page.

HAPPY TRUMP DAY!!!!

A piece of equipment from my time in the Navy. It is a Capacity Selector Valve.

During the aircraft launch sequence there was a command to " Set CSV", which would prompt a crewmember to set the proscribed setting. Once that had occured, a response of "CSV Set " would be returned. It is an interesting piece of gear and during my time in service saw several service changes.* * Usually brought about by a mishap.

In 2014 the homos had a friend in the White House and tried to take over the entire world - so I became the heterosupremacist. Three years later, they have become even more obnoxious! I always have been, always will be a heterosupremacist.

Been here since '99.
Back then I spent my free time chasing redfish in the bays on the Texas coast with my German Shepard.
It was the only nick I could think of that wasn't already taken.
That dog is long gone, miss him still.
He was better company than most people.

I had a different name

Then the separation ensued.

So I gave myself another name Chickensoup. Because I used to make a really good one. From my own chickens.

I'm a fan of Warhammer 40,000. Ciaphas Cain is a Flashman-type of character: trying his best to get out of trouble but always ending up thrown into the thick of it. He's got great leadership style though. Like, he doesn't believe in summarily executing his own men all the time. And so they tend to keep him alive almost as much as he keeps them alive.

He also has a smoking hot Inquisitor for a girlfriend.

When I joined the Freep, the Simpsons was very popular and I took my handle from Boss Burns’ saying... I thought it fitting since we were all hoping to catch the Clintons in their criminal activities: ReleaseTheHounds!

I just graduated from Bethel College, Indiana when I signed on. It was the best I could come up with at the time.

The Red Angus is my favorite breed of cattle. Probably the most versatile lf all the breeds, and since I am of Scottish descent I wanted something Scottish for a user name. The combo seemed to make sense.

Please refer to my profile page. This is as much I dare divulge about the mysterious origins of “FourtySeven”. Hehe

Actually it’s much more banal. And I think I might refer to this post in my profile page from now on.

When I first signed up a few months after 9-11, I had discovered FR a few weeks prior. The older members here will remember at that time the default time zone setting for unregistered lurkers was Pacific time. The only way to get the time stamp to show in your own local time zone was to register an account.

I had no intention of registering when I first started reading the news here I just wanted a good source for conservative news post 9-11. But the time stamp thing kept bugging me so I decided to register just to get the time stamps in my own time zone. I then decided I’d just register but never post. That didn’t last too long haha.

But as I was registering I had to pick a name of course and my desire was to pick something completely random yet still had a distinct yet subtle flair to it. (In case I did want to post something haha)

So I picked “FourtySeven”, to spell “fourty” in the old timey style I felt would give me that subtle flair. Unfortunately I didn’t realize until months later that while “forty” could be spelled “fourty” in some older uses of English, other numbers in that range never were (like fourty seven, never existed) so I was stuck with a misspelling but it was months after I signed up and already broke my self imposed ban on posting. And by that time I realized signing up for multiple accounts was a no-no, so I was stuck. Comittted to a misspelled name because of a stupid plan to be “anonymous but still unique”.

Oh well, best laid plans of mice and men eh? After all these years I’ve come to accept the error, and use it as a way to remind myself of a need for humility on my own part (and also to double check my work!).

My handle comes from the title of the first Jefferson Starship album “Blows Against the Empire” which was in turn taken from a quotation from the Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti...

“It’s a fresh wind that blows against the empire”

I challenge anyone driving in any other state (except maybe California) to make more 270 degree right-hand turns than we do in NJ.
