A Male Fairy Tale.

A MALE FAIRY TALE Once upon a time, a Prince asked a beautiful Princess,

"Will you marry me?"

The Princess immediately said, "No!"

And the Prince lived happily ever after, and rode motorcycles and dated thin, long-legged, full-breasted women, and hunted and fished and raced cars, and went to titty bars and dated ladies half his age and drank whiskey, beer, and Captain Morgan, and never heard bitching and never paid child support or alimony, and dated cheerleaders and kept his house and guns, and ate spam and potato chips and beans, and blew enormous farts, and never got cheated on while he was at work, and all his friends and family thought he was friggin' cool as hell, and he had tons of money in the bank, and left the toilet seat up. The End. **********

>I better start finding them asap!! I have a feeling if my sons wait till 30 it would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

You’ll be lucky to find virgin girls past the first college party in America.

I talk to guys from India and else ware that have arranged marriages and they tell me they’re greatest thing in the world. Their wives are virgins and very unlikely to ever cheat and they don’t have to spend their time chasing down girls at clubs and bars for sex. This lets them focus on their career, earning more money, and providing/caring for their kids. All that male energy that often wasted looking for sex is well channeled into providing a great life for their families.

I agree that you don’t have to be married to be happy. I was ‘alone but never lonely’ for many adult years before I married - I was always interested in something, and never bored. I couldn’t - and still can’t - understand how anybody could be bored, even alone, with the whole world in front of them, at their command.

But the Bible tells us that in many cases it is ‘better to marry than to burn’. I think that’s true in terms of sexuality for some, but I also think that ‘burn’ also has more meanings than just the sexual one.

We are built for association with other humans, and while it’s not up to me to decide what other people should do, I believe that in general a happy marriage, which normally extends to wider intra-human connections, is a good thing for most people. And people who have experienced it successfully will testify that it’s one of the GREATEST sources of happiness and spiritual development, over the long run.

You didn’t get it. I meant a joking parallel by an UNmarried woman. But I’ll save that for another time.

Sorry Secret Agent Man. Yes it is legit not to marry. But the reasons are important. Are you called to singleness? Or refusing to grow up? I wouldn’t know but it’s an important question.

The writer of this “joke” surely had a mom (maybe she was awful?) and a Grandma and maybe sisters and cousins and little friends and the nasty way all females seem to characterized strikes me as immature and bitter.

If your reasons for not marrying are good ones it’s all good.

old-ager:
Can’t believe the crap you’re getting. Bunch of new sensitive young guys taking over here?

No, it seems to be the women and [older] men that are giving the crap.

JohnyBoy:
Finding a faithful wife is pretty hard these days. The Christian church certainly doesn’t provide them anymore. They’re more about single mothers than chaste and pure women. Hard to ask a man to be faithful if you can’t promise him a faithful wife who won’t take his family away if she’s bored of monogamy.

This.
This is so true, and sad, and shameful all at once — and the craziness of it all is that the church should know better. (Prov. 31; Titus 2; 1 Tim 5)

But no, apparently moralistic therapeutic deism is the Soup of the Day here in the US; and it's made catastrophically worse that the culture is so permeated with feminism. (There's some really interesting reading on the topic, just type in churchianity, feminized church problem, and similar into your search engine.)

The bored of monogamy bit strikes close to home, as I have family where essentially that happened.

Jamestown1630:
Will she love and honor him, or just want a passport to a better material life?

An excellent question.
The answer is, I think, generally no — because our culture has become so inundated with feminism that it has destroyed pretty much any female accountability. As mountn man pointed out A recent study by the American Sociological Association found that women initiate 69% of all divorces. An even higher rate of 90% of all divorces are initiated by college-educated women., but that's not all, thy are rewarded for this behavior by the legal system and the institution of no fault divorce means that "Just Because" is reason enough to initiate a divorce.

BJ1:
But you gotta admit the current system is whacked. It’s not a marriage in the historical sense anymore. It’s a contract that can be broken anytime by either man or woman. That’s now how it used to be. And why it’s so unappealing to men is that the woman typically has a financial incentive to split up. How whacked is that? Typically the woman gets half the assets and continued support from the soon to be ex husband. Men are simply doing the risk reward thing. As for the reward part, young women aren’t even as worthy as women from a couple generations ago. Can they cook, keep house and raise the kids as well? What’s that?

You sir, have put your finger exactly on the problem!
The whole current system is whacked is better stated like this: the current system promotes, encourages, and facilitates injustice.

Given that, your concluding statement of If I wasn’t Christian, I’d tell my sons to go MGTOW. makes a lot of sense: the bible is quite clear on the consequence of unjust judges who call good evil and evil good. You are absolutely correct, righteous if you will, to council your children to stay far from it.

Jamestown1630:
A sensible woman can sense bitterness and reservation in a man, and runs away from it.

Perhaps, then again… since women are basically told they're perfect and shielded from responsibility/accountability by society they claim there aren't any good/nice guys anymore. In some sense, it's their fault, as women select their mates and have little to no repercussion for violating monogamy (as shown by the state of our welfare state) combine to produce Men Without Chests, as CS Lewis put it, saying In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.

Let that penultimate sentence sink in: We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.
Our society does a horrid job of honoring the honorable, or praising the praiseworthy, instead having been drowned in Hollywood glamorism (elevating 'stars' and, more importantly, horrid ethos) and be a man (which is seldom virtuous, and often downright cruel [esp. if you think back to something like, say, being a virgin in high school]). — Interestingly, the root word for virtue, vir, is Latin for 'man' — I suspect that this is the reason why the recent trend in the superhero genera movies has done so well (essentially promoting virtue instead of spitting on it), but that would take a lot of thought to properly formulate and certainly be too long for here.

Big Red Badger:
They got the Right to Vote..
That’s when the nightmare started.

It's politically incorrect, probably about the most politically incorrect thing you could say, but you're not wrong.
One of the interesting things is the rise of the welfare state and how it correlates with the destruction of the family. They might not even know it, but women have been using their vote to try to purchase security, but of the government [arguably society itself] rather than an individual man — the consequences of this are a sort of social exponential reaction that is the equivalent of a nuclear melt-down, feeding itself until Bad Things Happen.

Secret Agent Man:
Its called MGTOW. Women are gonna have to get used to it. They are the reason it is occurring and it scares them to death.

It should.
Socially speaking, women have been protected from accountability/responsibility for a long time — they haven't had to deal with consequences of their actions (certainly on the scale that they ought) with things like:

  1. No Fault Divorce + Family Courts (esp. invalidating prenuptial contracts)
  2. Welfare + Unrestricted Abortion = a fiscal incentive for promiscuous females, but if that'll "tie you down" the freedom from consequence.
  3. The men-are-guilty presupposition. (Remember the Duke case? And I'm sure you've read accounts of false rape charges.)
MGTOW signals a utter rejection on the social level of the 'traditional' female-permissive mindset (extremely feminized society); it is the ultimate culmination of average men being unable to win socially/sexually/legally with marriage and it terrifies them because if men refuse to play it means that they [reproductively/socially speaking] have no value. Jordan Peterson's video Why Playing Games is Mandatory shows that fair play is essential, and the little guy has to win some of the time [about 30%] in order to neurologically even ask to play. (Essentially rats men have learned that they don't have enough of a chance to win to even ask to play.)

Our culture and our churches are living in the belief that men and women are equal. God made men and women different and compatible each with a unique role. Then along came a serpent and messed things up. God foresaw the problem when he stated as recorded in Genesis 3:16 that the woman’s desire shall be for her husband. That desire many believe is to be the ruler of the home. Look at how men are portrayed in movies, tv shows and commercials. They are portrayed as imbeciles and oafs and women are always right. I constantly see women belittle their husbands.

Our idolatry has lead people to pursue lives of material excess and has caused women to need to work outside the home in order or have all the things the world tells that we need.

While I believe God created people to be married and procreate. I believe he also set aside some to be single in order for them to dedicate their lives in service to His kingdom.

Getting married to someone when you do not want to, is not a good reason to get married.

Getting married because other people are browbeating you to marry is not a good reason to get married.

Women throwing out ultimatums to men saying marry me or else is actually emotional blackmail and a terrible basis for a relationship to be based on, and obviously not a good reason to get married.

In short, no matter what choice a person makes, anyone who does not like their choice can say that person is being selfish. The person who marries because THEY want to get married, is making a selfish choice. It’s what THEY WANT TO DO. Just like the person who chooses to not marry.

Given that today there is zero upside for men to get married, until things change, I see nothing wrong with men looking at what awaits them, and saying No Thanks, I will pass on that.

This brings to mind something that I’ve been concerned about.

During my lifetime, I’ve known several people who were simply ‘asexual’. They were people who were simply not interested in sex, one way or the other, and whose energies were sublimated into other endeavors.

These people have a hard time today, because our modern culture, with its emphasis on a dichotomy of sexuality, and the idea that everything is ‘SEX ALL THE TIME;, has no concept of this; and these folks are automatically assumed to be ‘Homo’, just because they are not living as most of the others are...

Men Going Their Own Way.
(Sounds kind of lonely.)

It sure does, but on the other hand, it may be the best alternative:
Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife. (Proverbs 21:9)
