I question your answer. It works out to one egg per chicken per day, six eggs per day from six chickens, seven days at six eggs per day is 42.
I question your answer.
Not eggxactly my answer.
There many answers are out there, also many variations of the problem.
As usual, check twice and show your work.
Start with 1.5 hens laying 1,5 eggs in 1.5 days. How many eggs do 1.5 hens lay in 1.5 days.
1.5/1.5 = x/1 |cross multiply
1.5x=1.5 so x = 1
1.5 hens lay 1 egg per day. How many eggs does 1 hen lay per day?
1.5/1 = 1/x | cross multiply
1.5x = 1 so x =1/1.5 = .666666666666667 = 2/3. Each hen lays 2/3 egg per day.
6 hens lay 6*2/3 = 12/3 = 4 eggs per days.
That’s 7*4 = 28 eggs in 7 days.
So, in other words, 3 hens lay 3 eggs in 3 days, yes?
The link addresses the 28/42 dichotomy.
Starts center of page 267.
Apparently not a new problem, from the date of the work.
Next, fifty US coins to equal one US dollar? (goole not allowed)
Because it’s the easiest shape to pass through a chicken’s butthole?
