Australian tourists are unwittingly eating dog meat in Bali, according to evidence provided to the ABC's 7.30 program.
The animals are brutally caught and then butchered not far from the beaches visited by more than 1 million Australians every year.
'Nothing prepared me for the brutal catching of dogs'
Equipped with little more than his phone, a scooter and a small video camera, investigator 'Luke' spent four months infiltrating and documenting the brutal dog meat trade in Bali. Some of the animals are poisoned, posing a risk to human health, according to a leading toxicologist.
Whilst eating dog meat is not illegal in Bali, killing animals cruelly or eating meat contaminated with poison is against the law, Animals Australia's campaign director Lyn White said.

Red for the big dogs, white for the medium size dogs and a Chianti for the little dogs. With the Chow-Chows one drinks tea.
I would always go with a Malbark.

Had a filipino cook on my ship that named the Station Portsmouth station dog Stew. Every time we went to Station Portsmouth (NH), he’d say to me (messcook that month) “That dog name Stew”. Well, after being parked there for a week because of weather, we got back underway. We had a delicious stew that night. The following day, the station radioed us to ask if we had seen their dog, it went missing. I don’t think anybody ever made the connection.
Stew was a good boy.
Why Mad Dog 20/20 of course.
These stories keep getting posted. It’s as though righteous dog lovers are trying to make everyone feel bad. It has the opposite effect on me. I now am really curious about what dog tastes like. Also, what exactly is the difference between a dog and, let’s say, a goat? A pig? Sheep? I know plenty of people who have had these other animals as pets, and they don’t go on psycho posting rampages when their pets are killed, cooked on a spit, and eaten, with relish. I usually think of dogs as being foul smelling suburban house skunks that sh!t on everyone’s yard, bark all night, and kill the occasional five year old child. But if they’re raised with the intention of being food for us people, then maybe they aren’t so disgusting.
But hey, freedom of speech is great, ain’t it?
As long as they are just feeding them to Australians...
Look up “gutter oil China” next time you are bored.
More of the gorgeous mosaic of equal cultures.
Scum. People who abuse dogs are the lowest.
Wow. Did NOT know that.
This is hardly news.
Everybody traveling to those sh!tholes know you don’t eat the local meat.
Although, I have to say, the monkey barbacoa in Panama was pretty damned good 50 years ago even after I figured out what we had been eating.
I sure am glad I live right here in the good ol’ US of A!
“I sure am glad I live right here in the good ol US of A!”
As is your dog.
Dog meat is better than cat meat. You can usually tell the difference because cat meat tends to be darker and stringy-er than dog meat and not as tasty.
Just helping out. Don’t want anyone getting ripped off paying dog meat prices for cat meat.
