Amid ongoing turmoil at Fox News, an internal battle appears to be brewing between top executives and one of the last remaining vestiges of the lineup that made the network a powerhouse in cable news Sean Hannity.
Hannity has gone underground and is actively considering whether or not he will return to Fox News on Tuesday, a source close to Hannity told Independent Journal Review. It's a stunning development at the network, which has seemingly remained in a constant state of turmoil since the ouster of the late Roger Ailes.
Speculation ran wild earlier this week when the network announced Hannity would be taking a mid-week vacation amid controversy over the hosts promotion of unverified reports suggesting a link between murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich and his alleged contact with WikiLeaks. Hannity is currently facing threats of advertiser boycotts from liberal groups like Media Matters. Multiple companies have since pulled ads from Hannity.
In response to the rumors, a Fox News spokesperson said Hannity would be back on Tuesday after his Memorial Day weekend vacation, and people who suggest otherwise are going to look foolish.
But the well-placed source said Hannity has since retreated to isolation even temporarily swearing off social media while he makes a decision regarding his future at Fox News. Hannitys last tweet was posted on Thursday afternoon.

FYI
"IJR's source echoed the Hollywood Reporter's sources, claiming that
"James Murdoch is literally obsessed with getting rid of everyone associated with the old Fox and turning Fox into a respectable news network like CNN.
Think what could happen if Hannity, Limbaugh, O’Reilly and a few others who have profited handsomely by peddling words were to invest in a real truth-telling media machine.
I called USAA insurance today and told them if they pull advertising from Hannity, I’m gonna be PO’d. Been with them for Auto, Home, and brokerage service for 30 years.
If Hannity self-censors, he’s done anyway.
Jack Posobiac said that he has heard from multiple sources that FOX NEWS is firing Sean Hannity this weekend.
Again, he talks about a theory and allegations involving the murder of a DNC staffer and he’s a nut. The mainstream media keeps speaking of completely made up allegations about Trump and Russia and they are taken seriously. Rush, Hannity and O’Reilly should put together their own media conglomerate. It would be the most successful one in the history of mankind.
Why would he want to stay at Fox with the left wing thugs in charge of their version of Faux?
This is the absolutely tabloid-type journalism we previously only saw with Hollywood celebrities and gossip columns.
Our journalism schools are as crappy as any government-run local school.
Good. That’s one more network that can divide leftwing dollars.
Thats like saying they want to turn the Wall Street Journal into the National Enquirer. How gullible and oblivious does one have to be to think CNN is still a news network?
cable stations are dead as a doornail, they just don’t know it yet.
Me too! Been with USAA over 30 years - made a very passionate call and actually got a call back from the CEO. He told me the decision had nothing to do with outside pressure. He explained that it was a mistake that happened that caused them to advertise on Hannity in the first place. It’s their policy not to advertise on opinion shows, he said. I called BS because the also advertise on Maddow and Hardball.
Thus proving that this kid, Murdoch, is a liberal dolt, and not a businessman.
Fox News has been number one in cable news for most of its life. The reasons for that are well understood. If your intention is to have and maintain a profitable venture, you don't mess with the basic formula of your company's success. You simply continue doing the things that put you on top.
Liberal ideologues make terrible business people, as they put their cultish political ideals before sound and simple business practices. Fox News has already slipped in the ratings, and it seems that young Murdoch is determined to make things worse by continuing the purge of every right of center host in their stable.
It seems to me that the Murdoch-Spawn share the view of the republican establishment...
Go-along to get-along. They’re willing to make due with a much smaller slice of the pie as long as they get theirs. Small fish in a puddle.
Since FNS let BoR go, their ratings have plunged, but that’s OK, as long as the Murdoch-Spawn will begin getting invited to the right cocktail parties.
It’s a shame, but not really surprising, as President Trump’s election has shocked the left into realizing that their power wasn’t quite as secure as they had believed. President Trump seems to have caused enough shock to have unleashed the Washington denizens into an all-out war against the American people, at least those in Fly-Over country.

I've often wondered about this. If they and like-minded others pooled their resources, they could challenge Fox. But the conservative world, unlike the liberal world, splits its resources. Andrew Breitbart's biggest complaint was that he couldn't get even rich conservatives to donate money to Breitbart.com. We don't unify and fight like the leftists do. Or at least the big-money folks among us don't.
USAA, a large financial services company serving the military and owned by its policyholders, dropped its advertising on Hannity this week after being pressured by Media Matters and other progressive organizations. The company claimed it was a policy decision not to advertise on political shows. However, the company continued to advertise on Rachel Maddow and other progressive shows until conservative groups pointed out the hypocrisy. This week the USAA member forum on its internal website, and the USAA Facebook page have displayed a firestorm of member/owner comments deploring the decision to end advertising on Hannity. The overwhelming majority of USAA policyholders commenting on social media forums are incredulous at management’s action and many are declaring they are dropping their accounts.
The limited response by USAA underlings (note top management of USAA has not released a statement to the owners), suggest management is indifferent to the significant loss of business it is experiencing. Somehow the free market does not seem to work when CEO’s (Parker at USAA and Murchoch at Fox) are faced with a choice between progressive ideology and loss of business. Loss of business seems to be acceptable if the progressive agenda is furthered by business decisions customers find repugnant.
The left today seems to be making an all out assault on free speech and is using every weapon in its arsenal to silence conservative voice in the media. Intolerance and politics of personal destruction have become the norm in the USA as the freedoms once cherished by a united people are eradicated by the leviathan state and leftist elitists.
It is beginning to appear the next 12-24 months will determine if the nation will remain a beacon if individual liberty or if it will succumb to those who which to control the lives of other human beings with the tyranny of government. So far there seem to be few in public life willing to publicly stand for liberty against the onslaught. Notably the GOP establishment and Congress have seemingly abdicated the field as have many of President Trump’s insiders.
The pressure on Sean Hannity must be unbelievable. He deserves our prayers.
“Thus proving that this kid, Murdoch, is a liberal dolt, and not a businessman.”
You got it. Throughout my working lifetime, I’ve had a lot of dealings with SOBs (sons of bosses) and they have always been idiots that would have never made it on their own. Liberal networks are a dime a dozen and the spoiled brat doesn’t have the intelligence to see that.
