Donald Trump, whose populist message and promises to help American workers propelled him to the White House, is set to issue a budget proposal on Tuesday that instead takes aim at the social safety net on which many of his supporters rely.
Rather than breaking with Washington precedent, Trumps spending blueprint follows established conservative orthodoxy, cutting taxes on the wealthy, boosting defense spending and taking a hatchet to programs for the poor and disabled potentially hurting many of the rural and low-income Americans that voted him into office.
The budget proposal underscores the wide gulf between campaigning and governing, even for a president who promised to rewrite the presidential rule book.
The presidents budget plan calls for more than $1 trillion in cuts to a wide range of social programs with millions of beneficiaries, from farm subsidies to federal student aid. That includes a $600 billion cut to Medicaid over 10 years, despite Trumps repeated promises on the campaign trail not to cut the program. The budget also takes an ax to the federal food stamp program and Social Security Disability Insurance.
Trump also proposes some of the deepest cuts to agriculture subsidies since Ronald Reagan, squeezing out nearly $50 billion over 10 years.
Trumps budget would drastically cut domestic programs controlled by Congress, slashing $1.7 trillion over 10 years. At the end of the decade, the U.S. would spend nearly twice as much on defense as on other domestic programs. Domestic discretionary spending would be capped at $429 billion per year, below 2004 levels, while military spending soars to $722 billion.

No, the parasite classes, that rely on Government handouts, are the Democrats most loyal voters.
The left is getting its meme on
There is no bill yet. It is an opening salvo and a good one at that
Awwwwww. How sweet of Pollutico to come to the aid of Trump voters.
Why spread the garbage?
***
Because that is what anti-Trump posters do.
Most Trump supporters are self sufficient types, or want the freedom to be.
Yep.
YUP
They pull that BS all of the time
Pollutico.
who is paying for the handouts? who? Isn’t it us?
Get a job and there will be no need for handouts.
Now that the Democrats have so much time off, perhaps they should go on vacation!
I suggest this time instead of touring Europe they try a discover America Tour.
Cuts? Or a decrease in the expected increase?
There has not been a budget since 2007. Just CRs passed to keep paying for stuff, which means we have been using a DEM spending plan for the last 10 years.
I'm ready for a change.
Well, the numbers being reported have been read right from Trump’s own budget, so it appears accurate. It doesn’t really matter since Congress will never vote for it.
We work and Vote, we don’t WELFARE and Vote!
Politico is supposed to be posted under entertainment
They are spinning the worse case scenario for this. My guess is Ryan had his fingers in it also.
However their children and grand children will be able to afford to defend themselves
