[FULL TITLE had to be edited because it wouldn't 'take': Hepatitis danger from Full English breakfast... caused by EU meat: Sausage bug has been dubbed the Brexit virus]
Tens of thousands of people are being infected with a potentially deadly illness after eating imported meat riddled with what has been described as 'Brexit virus'. The strain of hepatitis E, which used to be mainly a tropical disease but has now mutated to infect livestock, causes a flu-like illness and in severe circumstances, could cause death.
Experts predict 10 per cent of pork imported from Europe has the strain and they warn pregnant women and transplant patients to avoid the meat altogether.
The strain is linked to pig farms in France, Holland, Germany and Denmark is infecting more than 60,000 in Britain annually.
It used to spread from person to person but the mutant virus has developed to infect livestock too.
{snip} The Food Standards Agency said the virus had spread to most British pig herds with 93 per cent of animals infected and 6 per cent producing enough of the virus to infect humans.

Meanwhile, the US has repealed country of origin labeling for beef and pork. Do you know where your mystery meat comes from..?
I’ve had it many times, but I prefer crispy bacon—and English rashers will crisp up if you cook them enough.
Florence...the Center of Civilization.
Visit the Ponte d’Oro and buy the wife some jewelry.
Oh, and go see Galileo’s fingers at the Galileo Museum which faces the Arno.
If you want to be driven absolutely crazy by an overabundance of historic artwork...the Pitti Palace.
I envy you!
We went to the Pitti Palace yesterday morning, actually to see the costume collection. Of course it was closed for renovation. They have an exhibition called Women Power which they use as an excuse to double the price to the main exhibition. We told them to stuff it. If the Women’s exhibition was good enough to stand on its own they wouldn’t have to tie it to the Pitti exhibition.
This morning we left Florence for Milan to see the newly restored Last Supper. We live in Spain so there are plenty of cheap flights to Italy. We will go back to the Pitti Palace when the women’s exhibition ends.
If you are really in to historical art they have an exhibition at the Ufizzi featuring Leonardo da Vinci’s The Adoration of the Magi. It was the largest freestanding painting he ever did and, because he never finished it, you get a unique look into his creative process. It has been restored to bring you the colors as Da Vinci originally painted them and is amazing.
