3 best TV episodes of all time?

Posted on 05/19/2017 6:42:04 PM PDT by MNDude

There are probably tens of thousands of TV episodes from the different decades. Most of them are probably pretty lousy looking back, but of course a few were rather stellar.

The episode on Little House on the Prairie where Mary goes blind, nightmare at 20000 feet on the Twilight Zone, the episode with a huge battle on Game of Thrones, or the Pilot of The Wonder Years are examples of some great episodes.

In your opinion, what are the three greatest TV episodes of all time?

I sent the YouTube of that to my dentist and suggested he show it at his next staff meeting. He told me they show it at dental school.

I would have to binge watch The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones to make my selections. Hmmmm . . . gimme that remote and put a pot of coffee on.

WKRP As God is my witness I thought turkeys could fly

I thought the Tornado episode was funnier. Les Nesman reading the civil defense alert "Citizens of Cincinnati, we are being attacked by the godless... tornadoes!", Johnny Fever wondering why God hates mobile homes, and Calson remembering a little Japanese from the war.

I'll probably think of some great episodes of The Twilight Zone or other shows later but these come to mind right now in no particular order:

The Simpsons - "Bart of Darkness". There were a lot of outstanding Simpsons episodes around those years - this was a flawless episode parodying "Rear Window", effortlessly dropping moments of brilliant humor. Easily the best show on TV in it's prime - today's episodes make you forget how amazingly good The Simpsons used to be.

The Wire - "Moral Midgetry". The best hour of TV drama I'd ever seen up to that point. The Wire would go on to a brilliant fourth season and a so-so fifth season, but the climax of the story of Avon Barksdale and Stringer Bell - the inability to cope with younger, hungrier competition and the setup for the mutual betrayal to come as Stringer is goaded into revealing to his murderous friend and partner that he killed his nephew - all happened in this episode.

The Sopranos - "University". Joe Pantoliano as the psychopathic Ralphie in one of the saddest episodes of TV I've seen.

I had forgotten about “Newhart”. The episode where the pretty young blonde girl meets Larry, Daryl and Daryl in the woods was hilarious.

There were several episodes of “The Rockford Files” which were outstanding. Those with Angel and also the Richey Brockelman ones where they do sort of a rip off of “The Sting”.
