Well, that’s weird.
Just earlier today, for no reason, I started thinking of that scene in Red Dawn where the Powers Boothe character, playing an Air Force major, dies while fighting Russian tanks in Colorado during a World War III battle.
Great actor.

LOVED this actor!! Not only as Jim Jones, but his best performance in the BEST film he was in, and one of the best films I have ever seen, John Boorman’s THE EMERALD FOREST> and that film is not even mentioned in the Hollywood Reporter piece linked!

Not many people realize Hollywood basically excommunicated script writer LEGEND John Millius for Red Dawn.
They tolerated his bombast and guns, but....THAT level of honest patriotism was just too much for Those People.
It got so bad he couldn’t even pay the tuition when his son got into Law School —he had to accept a big donation from his loyal friend.
THEY RUINED HIM.

one of those actors that you knew was actually a good man. Seeing his name on the list of actors in a movie made me watch whatever that movie was

Very sad news. He was very good as the Vice President on 24.

RIP MR Boothe. I enjoyed your acting in both Red Dawn and by Dawn’s early light.
To: KeyLargo
He was fantastic as Philip Marlowe in the HBO series “Philip Marlow, Private Eye” back in the 1980’s. RIP Mr Boothe

Per Wiki, he was married to his college sweetheart since 1969 and had two kids.

He had major on-screen charisma! Loved him in so many roles. It’s a sad day for me too realize that he’s gone.
