Childish men are to blame for women having kids late in life
New York Post ^ | 05/13/2017 | Melanie Notkin

I hear the same story, told in different ways, all over New York City. There’s 34-year-old Kate, who works in finance downtown. “She’s beautiful, smart, talented . . . everything going for her,” her colleague tells me. “But her boyfriend doesn’t feel settled in his career, so she spent thousands of dollars to freeze her eggs as she waits for him to be ready.

Feminism tried to change men, and women too, to fit their political agenda in defiance of human nature. We are reaping the consequences now.

This is true to a certain extent, but the success of the 'agenda' also had to do with some legitimate issues that women were dealing with in the 20th century. A lot of women sincerely felt that they were not 'whole' or recognized as 'whole' by culture and society, that they had no opportunities to develop themselves and their talents as distinct persons apart from home and family, and that such was actually discouraged. There were women, of course, who did create new opportunities and experiences for themselves later; but there was no real 'niche' in society for that.

(I knew many older women when I was young who were miserable and neurotic, because the children were grown and gone and the women had never prepared themselves, developed themselves for this. They failed to do this in part because they had never experienced any social cue or reinforcement of the idea that older life can be a wonderful time for a woman who has developed herself beyond the needs of child-bearing and wifely duties and can now explore and grow futher. Women like these sad 'empty nesters', who had thrown their entire lot into childrearing and homemaking and found themselves 'lost', were almost a 'type' or caricature back then.)

The 'agenda' recognized this and played upon it. The mistake women made was to think that they had to abandon motherhood/homemaking in order to experience fulfillment as whole persons, or that a career outside of the home and becoming like men represented the only path to self-realization. As a result, we now have an economy that demands two paychecks to run a household and creates competition between men and women; and a workplace that values youth and is often prejudiced against maturity, especially in women.

I know men of all ages who would love to find a woman, fall in love, and have a family. The women who want this in return are scarce. Oh I know they always talk that way, but today’s women who are single and childless heading into their mid-30’s are women who don’t really like men much, and wouldn’t know how to love one if they wanted to.
Like Kate, they “need” a man,, but they don’t really want one. .

I don’t know, one of my dearest friends almost a daughter, is a young woman in her early thirties, who was a preschool teacher, who loves children, who would love to find a man who wants to settle down. Not many out there. She is a homemaker, a gardener and loves children. she would be great at home, although she enjoys her work. She would be an equal contributor.

Especially when you have already been living together for a few years!

Hey I was just being sarcastic. Kate is just some dumb slut letting some man get love and affection for free. Hell, she’s probably paying half the rent. And she’s too blind to see that after living with her, he doesn’t want to marry her. If she refuses to see that he obviously doesn’t love her enough to spend the rest of his life with her, she’s not just a slut: She’s a dumb ho

That’s true. On the other hand, just because a woman is college educated doesn’t mean that they were capable of making a lot of money. Most things women major in are pretty worthless. Actually most things anybody majors in are pretty worthless these days.

Hey, don’t generalize so! Not all American women are idiots or self-absorbed.

I would say something about conservative women on the site… Although over the last few days I’ve seen quite a bit of whiny, feminazi behavior on here.

“As I’ve said, I don’t think the women in the article really know what they want.”

That brings up a good point. Whenever you hear women being interviewed, or read their dating-site profile, they say they want “a romantic man who loves poetry and long walks on the beach”.

She finds that exact guy and marries him and, yet two years later, she runs off with Snake the leader of a motorcycle gang. When asked about why she left her “perfect” husband for Snake, she will say “Oh, he’s so boring. All he wants to do is recite poetry and take long walks on the beach.”

Sorry, I’m not following...what does that mean?

LOL!

When I was young, I probably wanted someone who liked poetry and nature; I got the nature-part, and keep the poetry to myself ;-)

I think women want men who are strong and have character; but are also kind and loving, sensitive to the feelings of others.

Is that too much to ask? Men have always expected the same out of women...

All very good rules, except for the five years older one. What’s that about?

From what I have seen, women think they can change men. Turn them into whatever it is they want. Without respecting who they really are at the moment.

I don’t see men thinking this way though.

Gotcha!

For the record, i married for the first time at age 60 to a 36 year old woman. We're doing well, even though she just had to be NUTS to consider me marriage material.

Still, we're living the life we wanted to live, and yes, there is a BIG discrepancy in incomes in her favour.

95% of relationship drama are derived from living outside of that Biblical World view.

I saw a billboard the other day that said “Undo I do”.
This is how utterly stupid we have become.

Most women choose not to get married until they’ve played the field well into their 30s and female fertility drops quite a bit. What’s the point of marrying a used up ho who can’t even have kids? Men want young near virgin wives, not ex-hookers who didn’t even get paid for their services.

“I think that people are generally more selfish today than past generations, and neither sex has a monopoly on that. But I also know too many bright, idealistic young people to be depressed about the future. As a culture, we will learn from all of this and get over it.”

Very true JT. However I’m not nearly as optimistic as you are. I’m afraid we might go the way of Europe, which is a rapid descent.

As a national psychology/consciousness, we have a very different ‘pedigree’ than Europe does.

There may be some more rough periods, but I believe our best times are ahead of us.

I used to think so. But I think our morality and our prior penchant for rugged individualism has gone astray. Big government is now seen as the protector of all.

But I dearly hope I am completely wrong and you’re right :-)
