Be creative and use the system. Every course has a syllabus. If this professor is not teaching course material, sue the university and this professor for breach of contract.
File in county or city small claims court so you don’t rack up attorney fees. Do some basic research on contract law and attack. If 100 students start suing professors, the university will take notice.
>>What did you want, a diploma from a School of Lies?<<
That is almost every Higher Ed institution in the country.
If you want freedom, forgo college and start out owning your own business. But not many can actually DO that.
I.e. don’t just quit and twiddle thumbs. Change directions.
Only Ms. Adderess knows what she is prepared to address. Those telling her to spit back the lies lack in understanding.
As a stage magician friend of mine always says: sincerity is everything, once you can fake THAT...
All jobs involve lying. Whether it’s putting 8 hours on your time sheet no matter how long you were in that day because the company’s work flow “needs” it to say 8 hours (what I actually do every Friday), or pretending your glad the big boss came to visit even though he’s a total toad and just screwed up the whole work week. That’s just adult life. We get roles to play and we play them.
Sign off on an alternative class is the best way to go.
If he is not teaching what he is required to teach then I would go back to the administration.
Very politely state that he is not teaching the course that you signed up for. Ask them if there is another class with another teacher available because you are very worried that not learning the material that was supposed to be presented will have an adverse effect on your future.
Yes, I know you said that there is no other class or teacher available. That is their problem.
They said you must take this class. This class has certain material that must be taught. You are not being taught this material. Stick to this point like glue. Do not bring up anything about the professor except that he is not teaching the material required.
This is a valid reason to be concerned.
I have had about a 75% success rate using this technique.
Sometimes you put your head down and plow though. Sometimes you have to take a stand.
Your choice on this one.
Not in engineering, at least not yet.
It looks like many of us offered the same advice, in different words.
Then it sounds like a breach of contract, which could be lawsuit material.
Think of 4 years of university as an opportunity to spend time in the belly of the beast. You can get really good intel on the left and their many weaknesses. Think of yourself as a spy on a mission.
Yeah, and look at the spiritual garbage that a lot of stage magicians get into. Christian stage magician is rara avis.
Actions have consequences, even actions within yourself.
Even engineering majors have to take classes on the “freaky” side of the campus.
I do commend you for your passion and idealism and optimism that we are entering into a new administration with some prospects for righting wrongs - don’t mean to be flippant about advising you to get through this experience and keep moving, choose your battles wisely and with your long term goal in sight
As a wise Navy Captain once said “ As long as you’re moving, you’re not aground”
Which is not synonymous with making it the right thing.
>>When you get to our age 4 years goes by before you notice.<<
I have ties in my closet that I bought “just the other day” for my prior/prior job. Then I remember I left that job in the late 1990s!
:)
And still they can choose there.
If it really gets bad, they can switch schools to widen the range of choices.
Actually I know quite a few Christian magicians.
Actions do have consequences, and if you start looking at every stupid college paper as a hill to die on you do eventually die. Save the battles for important stuff.
“I still say Trump is negligent and remiss in not ending ALL federal funding of colleges and universities and ceasing the student loan programs immediately.”
Nixon, Reagan, Bush I and Bush II were also negligent and remiss. Let’s throw in Eisenhower, too. Hell, let’s blame Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln and Coolidge while we’re at it.
But you are looking at externals.
The most famous prestidigitators tend to the occult.
After reading all the responses you’ve received this far, I’m inclined to agree with the many who have suggested that you go along to get along, because this will not be the last of jerks that you’ll deal with in your lifetime. Far from it.
Perhaps these six summary suggestions from Dale Carnegie’s book, How To Win Friends and Influence People, might be of service to you:
1. Become genuinely interested in other people.
2. Smile.
3. Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
4. Be a good listener. ...
5.Talk in terms of the other person’s interests.
6. Make the other person feel important - and do it sincerely.
Don’t let the turkeys get you down! Good luck!
