Barbra Streisand argued that sexism cost her Oscar nominations for “Yentl” and “The Prince of Tides” during a spirited public interview at the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday. But it wasn’t just men who balked at the idea of a woman calling the shots on a major motion picture.
“There were a lot of older people,” Streisand told her interlocutor Robert Rodriguez. “They don’t want to see a woman director.”
“I don’t know how many women wanted to see a woman director,” she added.

She’s right. And my sources tell me that if it weren’t for sexism Babs would have been elected Secretary General of the UN. And she would have had new planets named after her. Among other things.
Maybe it’s because of bad acting, bad scripts, overkill, no talent, waste of money, no public interest.
Sadly, she’s just not very good, is she?
She’s famous, she’s rich, she’s a Hollywood and recording industry icon and yet theirin lies bitterness at missing out on a statue. Crazy.
She was denied because women didn’t want to see a woman director?? Women members of the Academy awards organization wouldnt honor a woman who performed well??? Really??
I find this very hard to believe.
Because Yentl was the best movie ever and once they discovered that the overblown star of the movie, a woman pretending to be a man, was directing herself and was really actually a woman, they wouldn’t let her win that nomination. But if the director had been a man directing Babs that worshipping way, he would have won the Oscar, right? That overblown directing would NEVER have looked like a completely pussy whipped man in her lap.
While quickly skimming the headline I thought she said that she “Lost multiple orgasms”.
I thought, “That can’t be right”
Then again.
Maybe its her I got hit with a brick face.
I never saw Prince of Tides, but Yentl was three fingers down the throat.
To be fair, I've heard Barbra say she didn't get a nose job because it might have affected her singing voice.
Sure, Barb. It not enough to be in the most overpaid profession on the planet, now we’re supposed to cry for you if you don’t get an award, too.
As one who has done two movies, I can tell you the ONLY thing standing in your way is money.
She has enough that if she wanted to direct, she could. She could do any movie she wanted. I know she could come up with $5m, which could sign a GOOD star and then that would get her the $20m to finish the budget. So why hasn’t she?
Hollywood is full of sexists and racists. Work somewhere else.
