“What if we are the highest intelligence?”

Then the Universe is well and truly screwed.

The aliens in Aliens are glorified acidic cockroaches.

The Traveler is the advanced species that has mapping and space travel down pat.

The “aliens” are merely parasites.

The first Alien movie is a fluke.

It came about as a result of the funding for Jodorowsky’s (non-)adaptation of Dune falling through in the mid-70s.

H.R.Giger, Moebius, and Dan O’Bannon met on that film project.

They couldn’t reach us anymore than we could reach them.

They'll be ugly but they'll have some neat weapons.

>>Maybe next year we will get “Aliens vs. Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Aliens vs. Predator vs. Batman vs. Joker

And while I’m at it here’s another fan-film, a fake trailer for a never actually made adaptation of Jodorowsky and Moebius’ Incal comic book story.

Think of all the trillions of life forms that have existed on THIS planet...

And only ONE, “us” evolved to a higher lifeform.

Even if there are billions of worlds out there with life.. the chance that any life on those planets would evolved to our level or higher of intelligence is rather remote.

“Theat way we can hunt ‘em down and kill ‘em before they kill us.”

Or you could read Cixin Liu’s Three Body Problem, Dark Forest (where that idea is explained), and the conclusion - Death’s End

In the darkest section of the night sky where no stars can be seen by eye or ordinary telescope, one long exposure of a quarter sized patch in that dark spot revealed 52,000,000 galaxies ...

In all honesty Ridley,I think we are IT. Can’t prove it. Will never know, but that is what I think.

All known evidence to date supports your contention, therefore you have nothing to prove.

Ever wonder about something like that? Like, maybe ants or termites ARE aliens?

Finally! Another freeper who has read Dark Forrest! Great book. Seriously thought provoking. There is probably just no way alien intelligence life would be a good thing for us. Yet we persist in thinking they would be benevolent.

As I understand it, the first stars had nothing but protons and Helium nuclei to work with as these stars were necessary to form the elements further along in the periodic table. It was only after these stars formed these heavier elements and died dispersing these elements did these elements become available in the universe to begin creating things that could become life (as we know it). So there could not be life based on Carbon or anything else until then next generation of stars formed. I am guessing but my guess is that our sun is one of those second generation of stars that met the criteria, having a solar system containing heavier elements.

That is why our sun is considered to be 18 billion years old as opposed to the asteroids of nickel iron that are 50 billion years old. Our sun has billions of years left and galaxies are still pumping out new stars, it seems, so what does later is anyone’s guess but we may be “the first” of many to come. The bar scene in Star Wars may come but it may be 20 billion years off.

OTOH, if some kind of intellect could arise based on Protons and Helium they could be billions of years ahead of us but it would certainly be a kind of “life form” we probably would not be able to interact with. Things to consider...
