Your own kitchen is better than the best. It ain’t rocket science.
What’s a good recipe?
Amounts depending on family size
tenderized beef cube steaks - patted dry with paper towel
eggs - fork beatened
flour
salt & pepper
veg oil
milk
Heat about a 1/3-1/2 inch oil in large skillet on medium high.
Season meat with salt and pepper.
In a pie plate (that’s what I use), combine flour and salt and pepper.
In a second pie plate, eggs fork beaten.
Dredge meat in the flour plate, then egg plate and again in the flour.
Fry in skillet until dark golden crispy. Flip as needed but be careful the crust doesn’t fall off. Cut one to make sure they’re done. Set the chicken fried steaks aside.
In same hot skillet, make the gravy.
Drain off all but about 3 Tablespoons of the oil. Leave in the crumble bits.
Sprinkle into the skillet some of the leftover flour and stir to make a rue.
Add milk and continue to stir.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Optional - add some dehydrated onion bits for added flavor.
Continue to stir and add milk as needed until gravy is thickened.
Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans.
Freeze leftover flour for future use. Or combine the leftover flour and eggs into one pie plate, microwave until set and give it to your dogs. Or, if you’re frugal, use it as a batter for savory crepes. Just remember it has had raw meat in it so needs to be cooked.
Thanks!!!
