This year at CES, HDR support is the buzzword heard from almost every single TV manufacturer, culminating in this frightening-looking slide from LG which proudly promised its set would be compatible with all four major HDR standards.
Things aren't quite as problematic as they seem
As a consumer, that many different video standards is a daunting idea that brings to mind the format wars of yore (think VHS vs. Betamax or Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD). Fortunately, while the fact that there are now four standards — HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, and Advanced HDR — for companies and consumers to consider when it comes to new televisions, the reality is that things aren't quite as problematic as they seem.

And now you’re back to the original assumption from the article, hoping the manufacturers will support multiple formats and update their firmware. Which we know they will not. Thus the article, and yourself are wrong. If you guess wrong you WILL be on the outside looking in, having paid for HDR and only getting HD. You admitted it already yourself. Don’t know why you still want to argue. We’re done, have a great day.

From the LG site:
“All LG Super UHD TVs feature HDR Super, which includes premium Dolby Vision™ in addition to industry-standard HDR10 together in one TV.”
Most all of content is in HDR10. Almost none is in Dolby Vision.
If you want HDR now, you have no choice.
Samsung TV’s don’t support DV but their processing modules are upgradeable. If They lose to DV and switch, older TVs may be upgraded.
However if you are an enthusiast then you may want a new TV.
For the common folks it is probably like the DVD choice. 480 or Blu-Ray. The upscale on the players and TV’s is so good that 480 DVDs are very enjoyable.
This is not true for Apple Lightning cables. The cheap knock offs degrade over time and will not work.

The big difference is with the phone cables you are messing with them all day while with the TV cables once you plug them in you rarely mess with them.
