10-year-old with autism arrested at Florida school

CNN)When John Haygood, a 10-year-old boy with autism, was arrested last week at a school in Florida, he kept repeating that he didn't know what was happening, as seen in shaky cellphone video taken by his mother. "I don't know what's going on. I don't understand," he cried out. In the video, his hands are cuffed as two officers escort him to the back seat of a police car. His mother, Luanne Haygood, followed behind them while recording the incident on her phone. In the video, John appears distraught, and yells some profanities.

Luanne is heard in the video speaking to the officers, "Excuse me, do you have any paperwork or anything you can say to me?"

The school won’t beat this ass, the mom won’t beat this ass, he probably does not have a dad to do it. If this happened he would not act like a fool! That’s what’s wrong with our schools and society.

There is nothing wrong that that boy that a trip to the woodshed would not fix.

I normally have a great deal of sympathy for people with mental and physical disabilities, but even I’m getting tired of the way autistic kids are being allowed to be just plain vicious.

This little punk in question had previously threatened to kill the paraprofessional; the school let it slide, and gave the punk multiple opportunities to change his behavior. He then escalates his behavior into felony assault, and his mother expects the school to let that slide, too?

So the poor widdle babykins doesn’t like to be touched? Well, people don’t like to be beaten up, either. I’m sick of hearing about how parents and teachers need to tiptoe around and use “strategies” to deal with these little psychos. Beat his @$$ with a belt when he gets violent; if the little diva-boy doesn’t like to be touched, he’ll quickly learn that he will be hurt when he hurts others.

I remember there was a kid like this in my class at school. In addition to being mean, he was also a pervert, bothering the girls. Boys and girls were all afraid of him, and of course, the teachers never did anything to intervene when he went on a rampage. One day, he started in on some girls, including my cousin. Tired of his B.S., she turned around and kicked him in the crotch so hard, that he screamed and fell to the floor.

Amazingly enough, that aspect of his “autism” was cured that day, and he never bothered the girls again.

Like this guy who thought it was a good idea to kick a little boy who made a bit of happy noise while he was talking on his phone.

His mother was going to admonish him, but the boy's father did a better job of it.

Lesson properly learned that day.

Why is this child in public school? do his parents not really give a damn about him? There is no excuse any more.

There is an autistic kid in our apts, always at the pool screaming, screaming and screaming, he is a kid but real fat and looks close to 15, 16 and very often will bump up against or just start grabbing people, he is scary...since he has a disability the apts have made clear they cannot and will not do anything to protect the residents from his behaviour. His dad does what he can but that often sets the kid off and he really lets loose with the screams then.

Was the “paraprofessional” for just him, or the whole class?

I’m thinking, the whole class. Like a teacher’s aid.

The last several years of the Public school swith their Federal involvement, federal control, really, are why this Republic is finished. No Trump can bring it back. The population is too large and too much of it has no familiarity with or even concept of history or can calculate or reason beyond sufficient to get dinner and collect their government checks. It will require a Napoleon to wrench the country back, or rather a Pinochet. Napoleon doesn’t leave when the job is done. Pinochet did.He had to be prodded by the Pope, but he did leave and Chile is back in the West.

October???? God move indoctrinaters. If they can’t indoctrinate they can always incarcerate. They knew he was autistic before hand why then take these steps and so late too. But it was in the book wasn’t it?

If he was of the protected class it wouldn’t have been a problem.

Family is the best care giver. Some families are deficient. Not all. PERIOD.

Why blame the cops? The kids is out of control and assaulting others. He can’t be spanked so what else can be done? Why allow him to hold the rest of the class hostage?

Have seen this video before. Was told the 16 year old in it has Down Syndrome and the mentality of a 6 year old.

I will quite agree with you that if he can’t act right in society then he must be removed at once. Understand the father’s reaction and can understand the parents of Down Syndrome’s reaction as well.

As much as it pains me to say this looks as if in some cases we are have to go back to the old days and put some of these people back in institutions for their own good and ours. That would include this boy and the boy that was arrested in this story although my thoughts are he just needed a trip to the woodshed.
