Two of the 9th court judges were reported to be meeting with GOP senators after this draft law was introduced. Other than that....no one is saying much of anything. It’s almost like they don’t have enough votes to pass this.

this is what our system of checks and balances is about....not one single branch of the govt riding roughshod over the others.....
its time to put the judiciary back in its place interpreting the law, not making law....

Congress moves at glacial speed, where it comes to making structural changes in the system that will truly benefit the American people.
By the way, it’s bad form to add your own comments to the body of the main post.

If the nutty 9th Jerket Court of Schlemiels is split up, won't this just make one of the two halves extremely nutty?

Split up California first.
It needs to be break away the coastal counties from L.A to Marin as a separate state.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

Reduce the venue of the 9th Circus to the campus of Berkley University. Then appoint a dozen judges from Montana and Alaska to the newly formed 12th Circuit.

Congress often goes AWOL on their most important duties. Overseeing and impeaching judges, being one of the more important duties.

I wasnt sure what I was supposed to do there. When posting a new thread, there are two posting windows.
The first is the body of the main post. This is where you paste in your excerpt from the article.
The second window is for your own comments. That shows up as reply number one on the thread.

....won't it just make one of the two halves extremely nuttyOr even worse would it create two instead of one nutty circuit courts? The sensible reform would be that one obscure judge somewhere can't be "shopped" to get the desire result. When it's just one judge or even one circuit over-riding the President, it does seem there should be some kind of process to go through. One judge being more powerful than the President is.....that's insanity.

If Ryan was any kind of leader, this bill would be added to the budget bill. Alas, Ryan is more a RAT than Republican.

Purpose of the courts is to act as a check and balance on Congress and the President. The 9th is doing its job well in this respect. Abolishing a court because it doesn’t make the decisions that the Executive and Legislative want it to breaks the system of checks and balances.
Would everyone posting here be OK if a Democratic congress and President Obama tried to do the same with a court that ruled against “Obamacare?”

Wouldn't matter because the Dems would plow forward anyway, and you KNOW it!
What Congress is doing is fully Constitutional. They are given the authority to set the number, composition and jurisdiction of the inferior courts.

Can't they simply justify it on the basis of number of citizens in each Circuit?
The 9th was set up before the West was really populated IIRC. Graphic from wiki -
