There can still be a civil case, but the plaintiff can no longer use the conviction as a fact that he wronged the plaintiff. They’d have to establish it again from scratch.
This is assuming he had any assets left.
I would guess there’s not much of an estate left.

They did just that with OJ Simpson who had actually been acquitted of the murders but yet was found culpable in the civil trial.
