I have there Samsung printers that cost about 80 bucks apiece. I buy all the toner from sellers on eBay for about 15 bucks apiece with free shipping. They print as many pages as the Samsung toner. I’ve only had one bad cartridge out of more than a dozen, and it wasn’t worth the trouble to return.

Buy on Amazon. They’re easy on returns. I find that if I buy off-brand carts, they don’t always work.

Try http://www.4inkjets.com
I have used this site for a decade or so. Their ink does not fade.

Do you find your model here?

Over the years I’ve tried multiple alternatives, including refilling cartridges with bottles of toner, and have never gotten a result as good as actual Brother cartridges.

I’ve finally concluded poor quality wasn’t a good trade for saving a few bucks. After all, a Brother cartridge will print text on a couple of boxes of paper before it needs replacing.

It’s just not worth saving tiny fractions of a cent per page for crap results.

I can’t speak for Brother refills. I’ve had the same HP laser for 8 years and the time I bought a generic brand the moderate savings did not make up for the shorter life of the cartridge.

One thing with laser printers. ALWAYS see what brand name refills cost for the printer BEFORE you buy it. It may well be cheaper to pay more for the printer and get it back with lower cost refills down the road.

I have the same printer and buy toner carts at Amazon. When I have ordered one (not when I run out) I usually try the new one for several copies and then seal it back up and store it in the box. I may go for a month or two in between print jobs and I don't turn the printer on until I need to print something.

I've never had a problem nor noticed any difference in print quality over using a true brother cart.

Could you possibly need a replacement drum?

I get mine at Sam’s also. Lot cheaper than Staples. I’ve had bad luck with refilled cartridges.

My Brother HL-5140 gets a bit sparse at the default print quality of 300x300 dpi. Blackens right up at 600x600 dpi, for printing grey scale photos and what not.

Have you tried changing your print quality?

We have been ordering a generic toner cartridge from Ink Technologies for our Samsung ML-3170 printer without any problems, saving over $100 per cart.

I have been buying toner cartridges for my Brother multi-function laser from Toner Kingdom. They have been just as good as OEM at a fraction of the cost. Check them out on Ebay.

From a guy whose former career makes me an expert on the topic, your first mistake was buying a Brother.

Free advice to all: The easiest thing to do is find a LOCAL shop that provides BOTH remanufactured cartridges and printers and ask their advice. We did NOT carry brands/models which we could not supply reliable reman ctgs. Brother was never sold.

I have 2 Brother printers for our office, and they take the TN660 cartridges (2600 monochrome prints). I’ve been able to find actual Brother replacements on sale for around $45-46.

I’m currently trying out an “equivalent” cartridge from Rosewill (purchased at newegg.com on a 2-for-$20 special). So far so good, and the only complaint is that the printers don’t recognize that it’s a new cartridge and keep trying to tell me I’m low on toner.

My (limited) experience. If I was printing a lot (so replacing toner every few months, at least), then I had good luck with refills. When I started printing much less, then my printers started clogging. So, if you only need one cartridge a year, probably just buy OEM, but if you print a lot, you can save a lot by refilling.

I had good luck with these guys:
