Where can I purchase inexpensive but quality, black laser printer refill toner ?

The refill toner I've tried, that's sold on Amazon or ebay for my Brother HL-2270DW laser printer prints out dark gray.

And all off brand timers will do so. You might try Cartridge World but more recently they haven’t been as good

I wouldn’t know - I buy the cheap printers. When it starts to run low on ink I get a new one, since replacement ink is more expensive than the printer itself.

Unfortunately, I’ve found that knockoffs and refills can actually damage the printer.

That may be only true of Canon, which we use; but we have found that the only way to safely print in bulk is to use the expensive Canon cartridges. We have found companies that supply it at different prices, the lowest being $95 and the highest being $135 per cartridge.

Amazon is our usual supply; but when they offer coupon deals, we sometimes catch a break with Quill.

But we’ll never use knockoff cartridges after seeing the roller platens all coated with melted-on color film.

Keep an eye out for a new laser sale. Sometimes you get the new laser with a half cattidge cheap.

Someone needs to invent a 3D printer that prints out toner refill dust.

I got a clone cartridge from Arcon through Amazon over a year ago, and so far it’s worked better than the original HP, which kind of exploded and got toner all over.

I do not specifically know, but it would surprise me to find that the contents of laser carts sold as refills from any of 3 dozen sources on ebay are any different from the contents in brand new OEM brand carts.

Yet I agree with you that refill carts somehow print greyer than new mfr branded ones.

With whatever means (meaning driver software) you use to run your printer, have you checked to see if there is a high-contrast or a different DPI option?

$50 for a new cartridge at Sam’s Club is too spendy for you?

I have a brothers laser as well, only a color.
Sounds like the problem wasn’t the cartridge in the first place.

Also the brothers cartridges when they show low toner, can be reset and keep on going... Google it an get instructions as to how.

I have the same printer and use these guys:

I mostly print draft off of that printer so your mileage may vary.

...and then you discover that the new printer didn't include ink.

I have been using toner from a company called LD products for years. you can find them at monstertoners.com or amazon, or direct from there site. I did notice it wasn’t a black as I liked for my brother printer but I just went through the options to darken text....on the printer console. The ink is less than half the price of the name brand. I have used two brother printers for 15 years. And always use this toner.

I purchased some replacements for my Xerox color laser. I print only a few sheets per month. I am still on the original cartridges. I purchased the cartridges because I heard ‘new’ laser printer cartridges are not filled completely.

I cannot say how good the replacements are, as I have not had to use one yet.

I bought them from LDProducts.com. The price was about 1/4th of what OEM cartridges are.

I have an older Canon Multifunction Laser printer and I've purchased cartridges from Supermediastore

I've purchased a couple of times and am happy with their Linkyo cartridges. Paid around $25 .

That is what I intend to do when my Xerox color laser quits or I run across a good deal. BlackFriday/CyberMonday prices are ridiculously low on some of them. I sort of am looking for a color laser duplex.

However, I have heard that new printers (inkjets and lasers) only have partially filled ink/toner cartridges.

I use my Xerox at home (I am retired) and print only occasionally. I am still on the original cartridges -- after 8 years.
