I am guessing the latter. Another option might be the jury didn't think it was first degree murder but would have convicted for a lesser charge such as manslaughter or second degree murder..
That’s why I’d like to see three verdicts: Innocent, not guilty or guilty. Not guilty means we couldn’t prove it, innocent means it was proven he didn’t do it.
My understanding is that the evidence was unclear as to which scumbag did which thing beyond a reasonable doubt, and Hernandez’ companions were semi-coherent and not particularly credible.
The issue was likely who did what.
Life WITHOUT the possibility of parole. So he is serving real life, not the liberal version of life. I wonder if he will break the record for longest incarceration of 68 years. I think he could if he reaches his early 90s in age.
