“Cause he didn’t do it, or ‘cause they couldn’t PROVE he did it?

I am guessing the latter. Another option might be the jury didn't think it was first degree murder but would have convicted for a lesser charge such as manslaughter or second degree murder..

That’s why I’d like to see three verdicts: Innocent, not guilty or guilty. Not guilty means we couldn’t prove it, innocent means it was proven he didn’t do it.
