I picked up a P-238 Sig in .380. It's single action but light weight and concealable.

You are asking a bad question.

You SHOULD have asked - what SA do you advise IF

1) Deep Concealment or Open Carry/in Diversion Case
2) Condition of Carry - Chambered?

The reason is NOT every SA is appropriate for what you are trying to do. Size matters, but more importantly is HOW you intend to carry.

The worst carry in the world is a SA in deep concealment loaded with no safety.
DO NOT consider a trigger safety a safety. It’s a safety for “legal” means but practically it will just get you shot.

Also consider training - and don’t go for the “wild west fast draw” bull. Your method would be to always retreat, and backup and buy time to draw. Don’t draw in close quarters. Any good CC instructor can tell you these things. whatever you do, DONT watch the idiots on Youtube or the Local Gunshop Pro. Get professional advice from a CC expert.

Active Self Protection. ASP. Great info. Recommend it. Not that I actually OWN firearms but...Para 14+1 .45 ACP. When you can pull it off.

Sig .380 when you can’t. Glock 9 mm is a nice compromise. Taurus and Ruger make less expensive .380s.

I really kind of like the Kel-Tec 9mm simi with the installed belt clip. It eliminates the need of a holster and is totally unseen. This is an odd angle picture but it shows the belt clip pretty well. Since I'm right handed I wear it on my left side with the clip on the opposite side of the gun in the picture. I think the concealed on the belt picture is of a 380 but the 9mm is similar. You can purchase the clip for the Kel-Tec but it works with some other brands. Even with your shirt tucked in you can pull up the shirt just a little and blouse the shirt over the hilt. It really works. The hammer on this gun is protected, you can't drop it and have it fire. There is no safety on this gun, you don't need one, it is double action only with a very heavy trigger pull. Some people don't like a heavy trigger they say it makes them less accurate but if you practice it isn't a problem.

Things I like about it...

-American made.
-Good price compared to Glock.
-Stainless steel and polymer.
-Matte black.
-Nicely rounded. No “pointy” things or edges to poke me.
-Fits my hand better than any other semi I’ve ever picked up.
-Very thin.

Things I don’t like...

-Only holds 7 or 8 rounds, depending on which magazine I’m using. (An understandable trade-off for a single-stack CCW weapon) *In .40 cal it holds 6 or 7. In 9mm it holds 7 or 8.

-Out of about 2000 rounds that I have fired through it thus far, there was one misfire, though upon inspection of the cartridge itself there was a strong “dimple” in the primer, and I believe that it should have fired. I lay the blame on the relatively cheap range-rounds I was using. I put that cartridge back in the gun and it fired the second time. (I didn’t really want to - but who wants to carry a cartridge with a dimpled primer around looking for a place to dispose)

My wife carries a 9mm SW Shield and occasionally carries and LCP. The LCP is about as concealable as you can get with a reasonable self defense round, but I wouldn’t carry it, it is no fun to practice with and the sights are more of an idea than a physical thing.

I carry an LC9 but I wouldn’t recommend it. It is the right size, smaller than the Shield and has real sights. It has a trigger that feels like it is a mile long and I had to shoot it a lot to become accurate with it.

They do make an LC9s, much improved trigger, I really want one. About the thinnest, smallest 9mm you will find on the market.

However, I am old and 90% of the time I wear a fanny pack on my right hip with a full (extra) sized pistol packing more than average muzzle energy and momentum.

I just saw a guy on Youtube instantly take down a 300+ pound hog with a 22lr subsonic round. However, he did have the advantage of getting a head shot in an ambush situation.

Sorry for being off topic, but I think a point and shoot revolver can’t be beat for personal self defense situations.
