Word For The Day, Monday, 3/27/17

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

inveigle; verb

inveigle \in-VAY-guhl; -VEE-\, transitive verb 1. To persuade by ingenuity or flattery; to entice. 2. To obtain by ingenuity or flattery.

Etymology: Inveigle comes from Anglo-French enveogler, from Old French aveugler, "to blind, to lead astray as if blind," from aveugle, "blind," from Medieval Latin ab oculis, "without eyes."

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

Here is my example with WFTD.

Incompetent/insufficient inveigling killed the obamacare replacement. As to whether it's a good or bad thing, I have no idea.

No pushing at the door please!

With the Muslims now demanding that their slaves (er, all women) be allowed (er, required) to wear habib’s and face masks for driver licenses, it will not be long before they inveilegal their way into all parts of life.. Which is their goal, and the liberal’s ctrl-left goal as well.

Ryan did his best to inveigle the Freedom caucus to approve a flawed Bill, but it didn’t work. Back to the drawing board. (BTW, my Congressman said that the FC was on board until nearly the last minute and then changed their minds.)

We elected President Trump for his persuasive skills, in the hope that he could inveigle Republican politicians into doing the right thing . . . once all their RINO ideas had been defeated.

A+++ I did not follow the debate very closely as most all news lately depresses the hell out of me.

on a more upbeat note, Cardinal Burke spoke at a local parish last Friday and it was very heartening to hear someone saying the same things I have been thinking. Our local bishop was not in attendance, which struck me as odd, since you have a visiting cardinal in your diocese seems you would show up, but he was instead at a fish fry at St James....Cardinal Burke repeatedly referred to "the crisis in the church", spoke of Francis by name very sparingly. And while he did not call him out as a heretic, he said many things that lead to that inescapable conclusion.

I don’t fault him for this, and don’t think it reflects poorly on this persuasive skills at all. A+++

While munching a sesame bagel
I contemplate how to inveigle
The RINOs like Ryan
To finally buy in
To Trump; via threat or finagle?

Cardinal Burke is one of the good ones. He’s from Wisconsin, and he speaks the truth. There are those in power who just hate that.

I, for one, don’t mind them debating and working this longer to get the best plan. This rush thru the process isn’t necessary.
