Judging from the Cyrillic alphabet comments, it’s either a hit or a miss in Mother Russia. Korean superstores might get them.
Growing a pear in a bottle...then adding brandy.....is so, so...French.
Ooh, nice!
I didn’t know that about celery! I always have the limp stuff hanging out in my crisper. Thanks for the tip.
We have a huge H-Mart here but I’ve never seen blue strawberries. Love to buy some!
thanks for this thread. it’s great to learn some new things!
Further research shows that these GMO strawberry seeds are available in blue, black, purple, and Goliath size reds from Amazon.
Be the first on your block to grow some!
LOL! Did you read the one and only review? “This is a scam!” Probably some anti-GMO type.
I learned that from my mother-in-law, an excellent cook (if I could learn to make chocolate chip cookies like hers, I’d think myself a consummate baker!)
I didn’t know the tip about crisping up lettuce in the freezer for a few minutes, that Liz told us; I’m anxious to try that.
You’re welcome! This weekly thread is usually about food and recipes, but when I envisioned it, I wanted it to be about all of the domestic arts (hence the ‘and related issues’ in the title.)
We’ve had threads about kitchen gadgets, and I think we’ve done one on holiday crafts. I’ve been thinking of doing one on health and beauty tips with a natural slant, too.
Watch this space :-)
Chef’s kitchen tricks are the best.... the crisping lettuce in the freezer is a great one.
About freezers....another trick is to put your breakfast milk in the freezer 10-15 min before serving in coffee or over cereal.......it makes the milk creamer.
Here’s a buy tip: use Walmart for mail order. I was looking all over for pink peppercorns and could not find them anywhere (except in a mix of various pepper). Amazon would not sell them to me because they occasionally do the “minimum” bit. No store in the area, including the Union Square Whole Foods, carried it. Walmart did - with a choice from very expensive to very cheap. Less than 24 hours after ordering it online, I had it in my hands.
Not only that, Walmart Online carries a large supply of items that bear no relationship to the shoddy stuff they carry in the stores. And pursuing is simple as is checkout. Simpler than Amazon, if you can imagine.
Walmart doesn’t sell shoddy stuff in their stores.
Talk to my toaster.
Purchasing, not pursuing, lol!
That’s a good tip. There isn’t a Walmart convenient to me, and I forget that they are also online.
It’s pretty good!
