Is there a panel van or maybe a late model 4-door Ford with heavily tinted windows sitting at the curb a house or two down? Any “repair” workers up on a nearby telephone pole, appearing to “work”? Does the same “mother” keep pushing a stroller by your house?

When I ask how much the survey pays to participate, they seem surprised.
When I as if they are working for free, they admit they are being paid.
When I say I’ll participate at the same rate of pay, they tell me they won’t pay.
When I ask how that is fair, they stammer and politely hang up.

I am on the regular Gallup email poll panel or one
of them anyway. I get one or two polls per month
but don’t respond as much anymore. When GW was prez
almost every questionnaire started with a question
about how Bush was doing even if the subject was driving
habits. When Obalma took over that question all but
went away.
