Woof!
{founder of National Puppy Day}
I forget which one of you Joes has the doggie ping list. So I’m pinging you both.
Someone dropped the expecting mama dog off here in the country. She had 8 pups and they were all fine dogs. I put up a sign and gave them all away in just a few days.
You did a wonderful thing! I’m so glad the mother ended up with a caring, responsible person.
Handsome pups!

in honor of puppy day, Obama ordered 2 medium well
Mama dog was a sweetheart. She was the best natured dog I have ever owned. I could not imagine anyone throwing away such a fine dog.
She was a mostly Lab mix mutt. One day she just disappeared. I don’t know if someone stole her or she might have been snake bit.
Yes, it is! And, it is my furbaby, Gizmo’s 11th birthday!
lolol
When my wife was a girl, she and her family bred Shetland Sheepdogs.
I’ve always wanted to do that. Wife says no. No and no.
She remembers the hard work it took to breed puppies. And then they had to be sold.
/insert sad face here.
We raise Treeing Walker Coon Hounds for hunting raccoon and bear. I raised a litter of seven this past summer. We’re keeping the two males and three females have sold. We have two females that aren’t quite, ‘getting it’ that are still running around loose. They’ll end up being farm dogs or family dogs. They are not really, ‘inside’ dogs. (FYI: We have 160 acres; we’re 2 miles from the closest road, the dogs don’t venture further than the pasture and the woods for the most part.)
We also have one younger male Coon Hound in training who runs with the two females, and we have a Beagle for rabbit hunting and a few Plott Hounds, bear dogs.
I’m glad I’m not 100% in love with the Coon Hound breed; that WOULD make it a lot harder to see them go.
I’m a Lab Lover at heart and my next ‘house dog’ is going to be a Chocolate. I’ve had 2 Black Labs and a Yellow through the years. Now THOSE pups would be VERY hard for me to part with!
So, I guess the trick is to find a dog breed you’re not totally crazy about...and then raise those, LOL!
I will try to remember this today when I grab the paper towels and spray bottle of vinegar after my youngest puppy has failed to find one of the 2 dog doors yet again. Reminds me that it’s time to do “poo patrol” for my 3- GSD, Standard Poodle puppy and rescued Moyen Poodle puppy. Night and day difference between the poodles and the GSD. It’s like the best of two worlds.
