I don’t understand peoples complaints. Windows 10 is awesome.

I don't know if it's awesome but it is pretty good and certainly better than XP, 7 or 8 (i.e. 8 was a POS) IMHO. I have Win10 running on three machines with XP and 7 still on several others that will get swapped out with new hardware. I do understand why people are reluctant to change, though, be it dislike of change or some other heritage app/driver.

It showed up on my computer maybe a year ago like a virus and was awful until I found a way around it. I use google chrome and it works fine.

here’s a link to Apple’s Refurbished Store
Thx ... the last 3-4 PCs I've bought have all been Dell refurbs - never a problem.

Linux has it own problems
Yeah, during my trial period I felt like a fish swimming upstream. Having used PCs since the IBM-XT days, I wasn't comfortable at all.

I was nodding my head agreeing with you while reading that because I’ve used software that required ie and media player. All that I know of though has been updated not to or there are others making software that does the same thing with any software.

But Jesus, why still use media center?

Then I got to the last paragraph where you made it clear you never really used 10. Any noob can make it boot to the regular desktop and the new start menu is so superior It’s not even funny. I’ve never been able to run with a clean desktop for long on previous versions of windows but 10 makes it easy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My problem with it is the same problem I have with Linux - the GUI (or in the case of Linux, whatever GUI you happen to choose, which is a whole other set of aggravations).
The whole point of a GUI is to completely eliminate the need to touch a command line.
If a GUI can’t do that, it sucks and the UI designers should be flogged within inches of their lives.
The other problem I have in particular with Windows 10 (and a hell of a lot more with Windows 8) is the abandonment of 15 years of interface design, just to make it easier for programmers to make apps that run on multiple devices on the same codebase, but to absolutely ignore the end-users and their comfort.
Tell that to 1000’s of architects whose 5,000 to 8,000+ dollar Autocad software quit working! Our old Hp Plotter doesn’t work with win 10 either. So I guess buying another 3000 dollar printer is no big expense either? We bought a win 10 machine to try and convert over all the software. No luck so far, but we can buy all new software if we want!
Even Autocad is getting into the yearly service fees instead of selling you the software.
Plus you have the expense of learning how to use the new software. We should go back to drawing by hand.
Old software is running fine on my Win10 machine too, but the machine was built for Win10. If the machine wasn’t built for Win10, there are drivers that may not have equivalents in Win10. I know of many people who couldn’t complete the update.
How to prevent M$ involuntarily updating you to Win10, Part 1:
How to prevent M$ involuntarily updating you to Win10, Part 2:
http://bit.ly/2mUNJxj
Rather than letting all their PCs access M$ individually to get their updates (which would be a big burden on the network), administrators of large organizations run a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server, which downloads all the patches and updates just the once and caches them locally. After which all the PCs take their updates from the WSUS server.
Well, there’s an application called “WSUS Offline” which, unlike M$’s WSUS server, #1, is free, and #2, doesn’t have to be run on a server OS.
It will run on any Windows OS (so long as it’s network-aware). And it downloads patches for whatever versions of Windows you tell it to, irrespective of which version the Windows WSUS Offine application is running on. You can run WSUS Offline on Windows NT and have it download ALL of the updates (and cache them locally) for Vista, Win7, Win8, Win8.1, and Win10 (but it won’t do XP because M$ has stood down the XP update servers).
You even can run WSUS Offline on a Windows PC that M$ is denying those same updates to, then use WSUS Offline to install them over M$’s objections.
Get more information and your own copy of WSUS Offline here:
