Events like these make some think that there is no God or that HE does not care. If God is in charge, as people claim, He must be the cause of our misery.
I came to that conclusion long ago...over many similar things.
I’m not sure why things like this are allowed to happen, to have children born into that while the people who inflict that evil seem to skip out on the punishment.
Then again, there are people who just read these stories then go on with their lives like nothing happened.
It’s an never ending cycle of “why doesn’t somebody do something about it”.
God gave us free will. He wants us to seek only good, but He does not force us to do so. Evil like this occurs when humans drive out the good.

Ya think? Add to that the most outrageous comments made by so called Christians on this site have pretty much convinced me that while there is no denying a God created this universe, religions are a farce.........

on this madness. I’m 70 and have lived my threescore and
ten years. Yeshua HaMaschiach (Christ) will soon split that
eastern sky wide open and His Kingdom will come quickly.
I keep hoping I get caught up and translated in my sleep
and wake up with the saints and angels & Christ. I used to
ride horses, so I think I’ll be ready to return to this
earth with Christ riding His white horse with “Faithful
and True” inscribed on his thigh, with hair like wool,
wearing a golden crown. Time will be no more; in fact,
time may just be an illusion anyway by now.
