One of France’s main airports was evacuated and flights disrupted for hours Saturday after a man wrestled a soldier to the ground and snatched her automatic rifle, telling her colleagues “there will be deaths.”
The 39-year-old assailant, identified by authorities as Ziyed Ben Belgacem, was known to France’s intelligence services as a possible Islamist extremist.
Hours before the airport attack, he wounded a police officer with a 9-millimeter lead-shot pistol during a traffic stop and later opened fire in a bar without hitting anyone, Francois Molins, the Paris prosecutor, said at an evening news conference.

Women in the military should be typing memos, organizing files and not on the frontline. Women don’t have the physical strength to fight a man. A man will win against a female probably 99% of the time.
Talk about a bad terrorist! He couldn’t kill anyone while shooting in a bar??? Allah must be scraping the bottom of the barrel these days.
Rat shot at pointblank range is the original franable round and will kill.
At my son’s school a few years ago there was a shooting. The guy killed one student with the end of the barrel at the back of his head. Video showed him shooting a girl at about 15 to 20 feet (12 gauge shotgun) and the girl staggered and then walked away. (Not sure how good the placement was, but she survived). I saw another video of a boy walking out with his shirt off and a circular “rash” on his chest and stomach. So that must have been at about 20 feet or so too to have it pattern like that. But he was walking and talking to the EMT.
I’m glad that the shooter was an idiot and used bird shot. He was just sentenced a few months ago. 114 years or something with no parole.
But yeah 15 feet to the face might kill you. Would sure slow you down being blinded and all.
It’s the LA Times and the gun was a 9mm.
They’re more concerned about the environment and lead than anything else.

Although, cycling a semiautomatic can be problematic.
The FReeper describing *garden pistols* got it about right. They're hand-sized impact weapons, throwing a fairly heavy projectile pellet or tear-gas filled paintball, meant to discourage vicious dogs and other pests that might wander into one's yard, or interfere with a bicycle ride.
They're meant to be noisy, the better to scare away pesky pooches. Their utility against humans is very limited; that's the idea.
They're derived from marine signalling flare pistols, usually 26.5mm in Europe, formerly used for the purpose. And which often were NOT non-lethal.

I have .40 cal snake/rat loads that are fun to shoot but will not cycle my weapon.
Ive shot more than one rattler with CCI 22 LR shotshells out of a 22 LR rifle about 7 feet away. One shot takes care of the critter. They’re not shredded but they be dead real good.
I would guess that 90% of my shooting with rimfire shot shells has been with the .22LR. Within the 7 feet you mention, it is adequate.
Probably the only snake I have shot with the .22 mag shells was a moccasin from a wooden bridge over a creek on a dirt road. It was probably around 8 feet. When I fished the snake out, it’s insides were hanging out. Really shredded.
I have fired a few 9mm but don’t any of them were at live targets.
Ive fired a couple of 9mm also. I did once have a 1911 compact Colt manage to cycle the CCI .45 shotshells. I should have kept it.
