Finally, the Boomers’ Comeuppance Begins
American Spectator ^ | March 15, 2017 | R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr.

I was wondering when it would happen. For over thirty years I have been anxiously awaiting the backlash. Alas, for years it never arrived. What backlash have I been awaiting, you ask? Why, the backlash to the most self-important, morally superior, narcissistic generation to cast a shadow across this republic in its history, the Baby Boomers. Had the generation just been designated “the Babies” and been left at that, America would have been on the right track. As we now are about to discover, while the Boomers decline into senescence, they never really did grow up — at least their headline-grabbing cohort never grew up.

Get ready for the onslaught.

There will be books, movies, talk shows all with the aim of making us look bad.

Get over it, millenials.

Our group (FR-Teaparty-Libertarians) objected to deficit spending, bullet trains to nowhere, mandatory unionization, government healthcare, windmills everywhere, free abortions, third bathrooms etc.

But we will get no credit.

It was the flippin’ hippies and I despise them to this day.

My SIL is one of them and she tried to engage my husband in a text discussion about Trump right after the inauguration. My husband shot back “ America First!” We’ve heard no more from her.

We did all that and obeyed the law and worked hard and paid taxes and raised good families.

But we should have been more violent. Less legal. Definitely less civil.

Seems more of us are coming around now though.

I’ve said for a long time that the best thing to happen to this country is when the baby boomers die off. I’m one of them, but I was a Republican when Republican wasn’t cool. Why? Because I knew the Democrats were liars, just as I knew the Soviets were liars.

What Emmett? You need your diaper changed? The Baby Boomers
probably were ones to provide for every single thing you ever enjoyed your entire stuck up life.

I find it ignorant to blame a whole generation of people for the bad acts of some.

It is also useless.

I am 63....I still work....part time but 12 hr shifts at a time....paid off house once but had to refi for college, weddings, a shop etc....

we don't eat out much..

we have limited vacations...

we drive cars into the ground...

what "boomer generation" are you talking about...

I have an ultra liberal sister who was part of the 60's protest bunch, she retired at age 57 from her teaching career and lives well off her NYS pension and medical....big brother also liberal has been enjoying a great retirement for many years...

the older boomers made out like bandits but we younger boomers were left holding the bag, and the bill....

Boomers certainly are the privileged generation. They grew up in a time of 1) overriding peace, bought by their parents and the American Empire 2) social cohesion - nothing they did, but a cumulation of 300+ years of white, Christian culture in America and 3) growing prosperity.

Any society in history that has great prosperity and stability also has a strong temptation towards decadence, entitlement and corruption.

Almost all Vietnam veterans are baby boomers. All baby boomers should not be painted with the same brush.

Most of the 52,000 names inscribed on that long black wall in DC are baby boomers.
