A Canadian university is under fire after it removed the weight scale at its campus gym last week.
Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, says the decision is in keeping with current fitness and social trends, according to a sign posted where the scale used to stand, according to the campus newspaper, The Charlatan.
Bruce Marshall, manager of health and wellness at the gym, said focusing only on weight can have a negative impact. [ ]
But some students disagree with removing the scale. Marko Miljusevic, a second-year computer science student, said in a Facebook message that students cant handle the number that shows up on the scale, then dont step on it, the Charlatan reported.

Oh noes. Those poor “Gravity Challenged” students.
Well if three people wanted it removed and five hundred wanted it kept, guess what?
The insanity of the left knows no bounds. SMH.
The “Charlatan”? - please......
Fitting name for a campus newspaper, though.
If the fat chicks don’t like the numbers on the scale, they could always lose some lard.
Snowflakes trigger me. Remove them.
I believe this is the campus that Ann Coulter was supposed to speak at a few years back, but was forced to cancel, or they cancelled her.
If scales bother them, I assume they’ve removed all mirrors and large panes of glass.
About two feet of them were triggering me and my snowthrower today.
The scale was just the opening shot.
These twigglypuff jigglers won’t be wanting any
mirrors in there either.
That was the U. of Ottawa. Carleton is Ottawa's other university in Ottawa. They (usually the student union) tends to beclown itself every so often. About ten years ago, they decided to declare war on the campus pro-life club. Then they banned the annual Shinerama charity fundraiser for cystic fibrosis, claiming that since it affected primarily white men, it wasn't diverse enough. And just a few years ago, a candidate for the student governnent who ran on a platform of inclusivity and tolerance took it upon himself to vandalize a conservative club's free-speech wall because it was Pride Week and he didn't like what he thought someone MIGHT write on it about gays.
You couldn't make me attend there.
