On March 14, or 3/14, mathematicians and other obscure-holiday aficionados celebrate Pi Day, honoring π, the Greek symbol representing an irrational number that begins with 3.14. Pi, as schoolteachers everywhere repeat, represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.

The above is a link to a one-minute video from the old TV show “Person of Interest”. The computer geek millionaire is undercover at an inner-city school as a math teacher, and some punk asks “Yeah so what is all this math good for?”
So he explains Pi - and how it is a never-ending sequence of numbers and contains all of the information of your life. Somewhere. As a geek I enjoyed it - and thought-provoking.
