So how did the Who perform? Was the sound good? Energy on stage? Can they still sing?

I'm trying to learn if they're worth seeing in Vegas.

At some point these performances take on almost a religious aura.

The music is ingrained, familiar and associated with distant memories for the average FR member.

The entire Desert Trip, there was no lack of quality or musicianship, except for Bob Dylan who basically is a poet.

The other acts: McCartney, Stones, Neil Young, The Who and Roger Waters(Pink Floyd) were excellent.

As a bonus, we only paid 30% of face value of tickets to attend. There are always early purchasers who can't go.

“At some point these performances take on almost a religious aura.”

That’s the problem.

People now know pop music references as their deepest philosophies and spiritual experiences.

Pop superseded the Bible as the touchstone for western culture and moral understanding.

This is very apparent in the UK, even more than here.
