A mother sparked an online backlash after she let her child to use the potty in the middle of an upmarket pub.
The scene was witnessed by another mother, who later took to Mumsnet to ask whether it was 'normal' for a child to go to the toilet in full view of other diners.
The post sparked a flurry of responses from disgusted users who branded the behaviour 'disgusting', 'repulsive' and 'unhygienic'.

My guess is that Mother did not speak English, nor was she from that city. Such a fact would help her not to feel any sense of shame or responsibility by creating such a stink.
And maybe not. There are some folks all over the world who have their own way of doing things, and don’t give a flip what anyone says about it. These are the kind of folks who change lanes on the highway without signalling, or tie up the checkout counter for 10 minutes while they suddenly realize they’re going to need money.

I already have to bite my tongue in the supermarkets, where people deposit their mangy little lap dogs into the Baby Seat of the shopping carts. I’ve seen all classes do this, from poor to wealthy looking people.

People from mainland China often let their kids use any street corner as a toilet in Hong Kong. You see kids doing their thing in train stations, streets and parks (just to name of few).
It’s an ongoing problem between mainland Chinese and Hong Kong Chinese. It’s not a fun thing to watch if you ever see it.
Yes, that was what gutters were for on the sides of cobblestone streets. The maids would empty the chamber pots out the window every morning, and in due course the rain would wash it down into the sewers, and into the river.
The Thames and the Hudson were pretty smelly.

I’ve heard that about China. I bet the place smells terrible if critical numbers of kids are doing this all the time.
Off topic a bit, but I’ve heard that in San Francisco, the wafting smell of urine is a constant in some parts of the city. That city is so liberal in many ways, including being liberal towards the homeless. And the homeless have learned they can do anything anywhere in SF.

I’ve seen people let their little boys run around playing with NOTHING on their bottom because they are being *potty trained*.
And the mother, when she detected the child needed to go, walked him over to the outside of the bounce house and had him pee against that.

Aside from the risk to his boy parts, that is so unhygienic.
