Alvernia University has announced that it will change its university nickname, which has been “Crusaders” since the 1970s.

A task force appointed by the president, and representing the university, will invite students, faculty, staff, and alumni to submit ideas for consideration. President Flynn plans to announce the new nickname in June, with the new name being put into use immediately.
According to Franciscan scholars, Alvernia’s patron saint, Francis of Assisi, marked a major transition in his spiritual journey when he turned away from the Crusades and pursued a life of peacemaking, including his famous trip to meet the Sultan, Malik al Kamil.

Sounds as if it isn’t much of a university at all.
They’re probably still looking for the luminiferous aether and teaching Marxism too.
It’s amazing to me that there is not strong pushback against the anti-Crusades mania that has swept the West.
The Crusades were moral, righteous, and entirely justified. The only two valid issues are 1) War is Hell; and 2) Endorsing permanent Islamization of a territory or people.
We certainly understand #1, and we don’t support #2.
So, where’s the beef?
Good one! Other options could be Snowflakes, Wimps, Losers and Pajama Boys.
Just one more institution bowing down in submission to our new masters.
Nobody gets to pick their own nickname. It’s chosen for you by your peers.
How about “The Apostates”
“Submitters”
How about the Heretics?
They already changed the name of “Beaver College” to Arcadia University.
But the prize goes to Penn State whose “Beaver Stadium” is in “Happy Valley.”
ISIS already calls anyone in the West in combat with them”Crusaders”, so why change it, since the cat is out of the bag?
Were the Crusades NOT in response to mohammedan occupation of centuries?
Sheep, the muslims can love them or eat them

The L’Molochs or The Baals
The Pagans
The Satanists
The Saracens
The Arabs
or, perhaps my favorite
The Shiites, though The Aryans would also work.
