CNN's newest original series Believer With Reza Aslan, which premiered Sunday, has been termed "callous," "reckless," "disgusting" and other such uncharitable things.
Social commentators have raised concerns over the show's impact at a time when the U.S. is infested with fears about the "outsider."
Here's what happened...
He allows an Aghori guru to smear the ashes of cremated humans on his face; he even drinks alcohol from a human skull and eats what is likely to be a bit of human brain...

No wonder the mainstream media has no interest in investigating the Podestas, James Alefantis, Hamstead, et al. They fit right in.
ISIS has videos of their cannibalism also.
Cultural equivalency run amok.
At least the average Hindu finds the practices of this particular Hindu sect offensive.
(I put this in breaking and headline because it is recent and provocative. Hope those are appropriate categories.)
Appropriate categories.
A friend told me about this.
There is documented evidence of this so, I’m not sure what the offense ought to be....
One by one, the appeasing CNN conducts its devolution of historic recognized and defined true religions (Christianity, Catholicism, Judaism, Hinduism, et al) in deference to its supplication to Islam. Praise Allah.../s
Reza Aslan is very “evangelically” atheistic. The purpose of the show seems like it is designed to put all “believers” in a bad light. Documentary evidence or not, this sect is not typical of Hindu, and it *is* outrageous to present this is in what is marketed as a general introduction to beliefs.
CNN is really earning their position in the back row and bottom of the heap.
Everyday things the staff at CNN missed in kindergarten.
It might even be fair to call Aghori “Hindu Satanists.” They worship what they hold to be the manifestation of the destructive aspects of Shiva, the demon-god, “Bhairava.” They are so scarce, that like Satanists, there is debate whether they are anything more common than simply rebellious ne’er-do-wells seeking infamy.
Yeah but it’s the Contrived News Network so maybe he is eating a fake brain.
“maybe he is eating a fake brain”
Does CNN have any other kind?
ZOmbies.......................
And when the guru begins to eat his own waste and hurls it at Aslan and his crew, they sprint in the opposite direction.
CNN's attempts to demonstrate the alleged moral and intellectual equivalence of all cultures and religions didn't quite go according to plan. Good luck to Aslan as he tries to convince people that cannibalism and excrement eating/tossing are somehow equivalent to Catholics observing Mass or Lutherans singing hymns.
Muslim slander of Hindus. I guess in his eyes, the Moghuls didn’t do enough slaughtering several hundred million Hindus.
Scumbucket Islamist.
Hinduism is nowhere portrayed more offensively than on The Simpsons.
And they’ve just been renewed for a 30th. season.
I didn't see that episode, but to be fair, I doubt anyone claimed that this practice was representative of Hinduism. However, it's true that viewers who know nothing about the subject might come away thinking that it is representative.
Reza Aslan is a Sufi Muslim, not an atheist, so his agenda isn't so much showing that all religions are bad as the liberal view that all religions are equal and morally equivalent. As I said in my earlier post, if that was his intent, he failed miserably with his choice of examples.
They’re not that scarce, just not well known. My wife knows several. And I’d opine that “satanist” is a poor simile. The destructive side of Shiva is considered a necessary if dangerous part of existence, not an extraneous evil the way Satan is.
But they do smear themselves with cremation ashes, and some do apparently eat small pieces of dead bodies.
Hindus seem pretty peaceful and I think that the goal here is to divert attention towards Hinduism and be able to say — see other religions are just as bad and Islam.
The real truth: Muslims are the bullies on the playground and are picking fights with all other religions — Jews, Christians, Hindus, etc. etc.
OK. Reza Aslan is a well-known hater and slanderer of Christianity.
is this about the old guy that beat his daughter in-law to death with a hammer .. ?
its an honor-killing actually
Nope. CNN multi-cultural diversity advocacy of cannibalism. Actually, the CNN reporter took part in it.
