Got my first You Owe the IRS money robocall today. Note number.
We don’t bother to answer the phone any more.
EVERYONE CALL THEM!!!
Get to the point where they ask for money and then start calling them goat-humpers
It’s fun to see their reactions.
What’s the significance of the phone number?
Also calls from Jamaica that we don’t answer
If it’s someone we know they will leave a message on the answering machine. These callers never leave a message.
I got them twice. Mom got one once. Did’t take down ph numbers, just deleted.
One was with slight accent, echoey - sounded like delivered from inside a metal trash container....
Yes, that went around here in NW Florida late last year. Many people were called and the local news had reports of people in fear. On elderly lady was scammed out of $20,000!.......................
THE IRS DOES NOT MAKE PHONE CALLS! THEY SEND LETTERS!..................
Also got one from (805) 329-6271 this am. We don’t pick up for unknown numbers but they left a message. Very amateurish but I’m sure they can trick older people. Went online to check the number on the fraud list and they weren’t listed. What was listed scared me, a Caribbean call scam that costs people $2,425 a minute in charges. Since numbers are outside the U.S. our laws have no effect. This is when the International Community should get together and outlaw such practices, but where are they?
was up visiting me mother in Washington state...they must have called her 4 times while I was there...cussed at them all 4 times ...but they keep calling
Best solution is to have a phone system which announces the caller. If I recognize the caller, I pick up - otherwise let it ring.
These scammers don’t usually leave a message, but if they do and it is threatening there should be an FCC investigation to stop it and punish them.
Just be alert and watch out for the elderly who are their prime targets.
Even the IRS has put out bulletins and press releases saying these people are scammers and do not give any information at all to them. They will clean out your bank account in a microsecond and the chances of getting it back are essentially ZERO...............
They do leave messages. They left at least two on my answering machine last year. They threaten you with jail and loss of your home....................
It is quite useless to call the no call list people to complain as they seem to have their own scam.
I have centurlink so there scam does not allow caller ID.
That is horrible; Thankfully you are savvy - but it must scare the hell out of the unsophisticated. How can it be stopped?
Your warning has me prepared if I get such a call.
Thank you.
.....or PROCESS SERVERS!
You could answer the phone: City Morgue or Fed IRS or FBI.
That would fix them
These type of calls can’t be stopped, all we can do is inform the public.....................
It scared the hell out of my wife. She thought they were real IRS people..................
“Good afternoon, Federal Prosecutor’s Office”....
“Office of the Attorney General”....
“You have reached the Internal Revenue Service. For English, press 1. ...If you know your party’s extension....”
“Leavenworth Prison”
HA I like how you think.
