Five Oscar nominees in the foreign-language film category released a statement ahead of the awards show condemning "the climate of fanaticism and nationalism in the U.S." — a statement that is likely the first of many political comments expected during Sunday's Academy Awards.
The group said it would dedicate the Oscar of whichever film wins to those working toward unity, and the films' directors said they reject the borders symbolically defining their category.
"We believe there is no best country, best gender, best religion or best color. We want this award to stand as a symbol of unity between nations and the freedom of the arts," the directors said in the statement.

But then there's this:
"The fear generated by dividing us into genders, colors, religions and sexualities as a means to justify violence destroys the things that we depend on — not only as artists but as humans: the diversity of cultures, the chance to be enriched by something seemingly 'foreign' and the belief that human encounters can change us for the better," the statement continued.
Just who is "dividing us into genders, colors, religions, and sexualities?" I'm pretty sure that's been going on a lot longer than just recently, and pretty sure Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama targeted their appeals to gender, racial, religious, and sexual orientation groups.
So there is no”best,” and everything is the same: all cultures, all lifestyles, all creeds, all customs; all rituals; all pageants. So why not extend this to all movies and scrap the Oscar’s.
Wonder how many US tax dollars went into the making of these useless movies?

The Academy Awards ceremony is an American event to recognize cinematic excellence in the US. These foreign artists show no shame when they come to our soil, disparage our President and lecture us Americans.
I didn’t read that far but, they are the one objectifying, which divides people.
It’s like some people I know who say “let’s invite the gays”.
I cringe when I hear it.
These are people who have names, an identity, mom and dad, siblings, friends, jobs and share common interests and humor.
They aren’t gay 24/7 as a matter of the whole person.
It would be like saying “Let’s invite the blacks”.

The USA is the best country in all the world. They use the word unity, but they don’t mean it. Typical of America hating leftists. It’s a good thing most people won’t watch their movies.
I would rather have a tooth drilled without Novocaine than watch these narcissists give each other hand jobs.
I’m sure they’re hoping for people tuning in to watch the train wreck. Unfortunately, plenty will oblige (I think it was the Grammys that were the most watched in years).
Can’t you see it now? The winner is (greasy looking third world pos) who accepts and says” I want to thank this guy , that guy and the other guy and of course Death to America!” And the crowd of anti-American scum stand up and cheer.

Yes I can see that.
There’s one good thing about the Oscars presentation every year; Turner Classic Movies runs a 31-day on-channel festival where they show every movie that was nominated for an Oscar, in alphabetical order. Of course, that’s how you realize that some movies get nominated and it’s hard to figure out why.
The label, “deplorable”, must have been lost in translation.
