I didn’t know this band too much in the 80s, but found this great live tune just a few weeks ago. Speaking of fashion, I LOVE her look/clothes in the video.

XTC is on a mountaintop looking down on the rest of the bands from that list. Ultravox was OK, and Bow Wow Wow had one decent album. The rest? Meh.

Patti Smith was an unofficial member of Blue Oyster Cult.

She dated Alan Lanier for a long time and sang on some of their songs, most notably, The Revenge Of Vera Gemini.

“You are boned like a saint, with the consciousness of a snake”

“Fire Of Unknown Origin” was allegedly an homage to her friend, who had died.

Patti’s “Pissing In The River” is epic.

Patti Smith was a fold, pre-punk singer from the 70's whose hit was a cover of a Bruce Springsteen song. Patty Smyth was the singer for an 80's band, Scandal that had hits like, Goodbye to You, and The Warrior, and then she had a hit in the 90's that was a duet with Don Henley. She is married to John McEnroe.

XTC doesn’t exactly qualify as underrated, but one of my favorite 80’s bands would be The Replacements.

Quarterflash actually had three Top-20 hits. The couple is still married. The couple that is Nu Shooz is still married, but the couple from Timbuk3 is divorced.

Patti was always, what they used to call ‘earthy’; meaning blunt, uncompromising, unafraid to offend or disgust.
She was a writer for The Rolling Stone for a while, back when their focus was still mostly music and musicians vs celebrities. I recall a very good article Patti wrote about an album from one of my idols, Todd Rundgren.
The album was ‘A Wizard, A True Star’ 1976?. I keep a copy of that album in CD form with me always.
