Fungus are devious little bastards. The mycillium spreads out in the soil, collects the radioactive particles in the soil, puts it all in a mushroom and allows animals to carry it away. They can conentrate radioactivity by 10000x, and are even proposed for remediating radioactive waste.

Reindeer in Norway and Finland are radioactive. Lichens and shrooms growing in soil contaminated by Chernobyl are the cause.

The fungi tend to concentrate cesium. When I was in Germany in 1986, there were hardly any mushrooms in the marketplace thanks to Chernobyl.
