Utah lawmakers took the first step Tuesday to get rid of a state law that bans the “advocacy of homosexuality” in schools, a move driven by a court challenge from gay rights groups.
The Senate Education Committee voted unanimously in favor of a Republican bill cutting the phrase from sex education law. The National Center for Lesbian Rights and Equality Utah sued last fall, saying the law creates a “chilling culture of silence that stigmatizes LGBTQ students” and exists only to express disapproval of being gay.
A number of states have similar laws, but few others are moving to overturn them, Equality Utah said. However, the group said it is not ready to drop the lawsuit.
The bill replaces the law’s ban on the “advocacy of homosexuality” with a ban on the “advocacy of premarital or extramarital sexual activity,” which already is generally outlawed in Utah schools. …

Off topic....but I constantly get letters from Salt Lake City from Goldman-Sachs. Didn’t know they had a base there.
They advertise it as their “second-largest office in the Americas and fourth largest globally”. They have been moving staff out of New York and London to there to save costs.
Interesting.
What is with the Mormons these days? I used to defend them as a consistent and faithful repository of Christian living, even if LDS is not actually Christian. That seems to be falling away. In a couple of years are we going to answer the doorbell to tranny Missionaries?

SLC is going through the same transformation as every other mid sized city West of the Mississippi,. West coasters moving into town and changing it to match the place they came from... Dilution of the local ideals. I watched Denver go through the slow death and West coast rebirth, SLC, Reno, Austin, Albuquerque, Jackson hole, Lincoln. Anywhere people who have equity in a west coast home can move and benefit from a more friendly housing climate and easy going locals who will let them get into politics and change the place to match the cesspool they came from. And Goldman-Sachs has two offices in Salt lake, a large building downtown and another on campus at the University of Utah. Very few locals work at either.
Florida got that way back. South Florida is a politically northeastern area with Democrat politics and NYC accents.
In the west and in New Hampshire the root is a little different though the results are the same. People flee Massachusets and California to get away from the crime and high and higher taxes and the microregulation. Then when they are settled in their new home for a while Mrs. Transplant says to Mr. at the breakfast table over coffee, “Honey, this place is almost perfect, it just needs a few more services.”
The politicians in Utah are bending their knee to the Corporatists, the Big Business and Big Banking elites.
No doubt they’ve been told to change the law or else Utah will lose jobs when they move out.
SLC is going through the same transformation as every other mid sized city West of the Mississippi,.

HomoNazis are implacable. The sooner that Utah lawmakers learn this, the sooner they can do the people’s work of opposing this destructive perversion.
Mormons’ treachery on the Boy Scouts (they CHAMPIONED the homosexual boy change) was the final revelation of how they’ve been compromised.
