Every after fast food place I know does not allow for walk-ups. Yes, it should be a very easy thing to solve and I suggested a solution. If you’ve paid for your food, you’re unlikely going to cause trouble to the person giving you your food.
It’s not that difficult, but fast food places don’t want the money of walk-ups.
Because he gots to have his Mickey Dee's.
It's a God-given right, you know.
This makes as much sense as suing the Earth for spinning the country into sun-free side.
I believe they don’t want the liability of people getting run over at the window.
That's not the problem. Can you imagine the liability if someone walking up to a drive-though window gets hit by a car? THAT'S the reason most drive-throughs will refuse to service "walk-ups."
Really, the only solution would be to put in a separate "walk-up" window.

And yet, they all have a main entrance within feet of their drive thru windows, forcing customers to walk in front of cars leaving the window.
And if someone walking through the drive thru gets hit by a driver, they will also sue McDonalds. Making it harder for a blind person to buy McDonalds is a bonus for that person. Food from a drive thru window isn’t real food.
Someone walking by, can easily walk inside. I believe drive thru’s were created for driver’s to make it quicker and easier than parking and going inside.
Maybe that’s why they named them “drive” thru’s.
They have turned themselves into a new entitled victim group.
I entirely sympathize.
I used to walk from the barracks in Fort Hood into Killeen and walk through the Wendy’s drive-through...
So, braille at the drive-up ATM wasn’t enough to show the lunacy? It’s called a drive-up window for a reason. Take a frigging cab! Call a friend, if you have one, which even if you do they will abandon you after a couple of midnight calls for munchies!
OK-—I am a bookkeeper for a very long time.
The first question I would ask McDonald’s is:
What EXACTLY are the PROFITS from the sales you do after the doors are closed & ONLY drive thru sales can be made?
I Said PROFITS for a reason-—
The cost of this lawsuit may well EXCEED the PROFITS from such sales by a large margin.
If I am correct, then CLOSE the doors when you want & don’t serve anyone. Offering drive thru only for a very limited number of customers means keeping the heat/lights/burners/fryers/payroll going for not much reason.
Close the doors, and only have personnel in there to clean & set up for the morning crew. END of argument.
I sympathize with a blind person, but there are limits. I remember a guy who was declared blind who sued UPS a few years back because they wouldn’t hire him to drive one of their trucks.
The judge threw it out of court—with prejudice, meaning he couldn’t do it anywhere again.
Also- recently a blind person(s) sued Broadway theaters because they “don’t accommodate the blind”. There were no details about what their exact complaint was, and I cannot figure out what accommodation they thought they didn’t have which they were entitled to.
Even the lawyers in such cases should be sanctioned, IMO.
I my nearest McDonald’s, NO ONE can walk to the drive up window at any time of day.
Someone did it at night, and they were hit & injured by a person coming into the drive up & they sued McDonald’s. Driver certainly wasn’t expecting a person to be walking in the DRIVE UP.
I am finally old enough to completely realize I CAN’T FIX STUPID.

I heard this guy on talk radio a few months back, he's a whack job. He walked up to the drive through and attempted to order a hamburger after the restaurant had closed, but the drive-through remained open for another few hours.
Bottom line: It's a SAFETY issue. Going through a drive-through does anyone driving a car really expect to see someone on foot ordering or waiting in line? Of course not.
Same for Bicycles, and McDonald's won't serve you if you're on one of those either.
Getting really sick and tired of these kinds of lawsuits. Ultimately they drive up the cost of doing business and that cost is passed onto EVERYONE for idiots like this guy.
BTW: In the radio interview I heard, he claimed to have a RIGHT to buy a cheeseburger in the middle of the night from whoever he wanted to.

This is what our country has become. And it's why we have BRAILLE on drive-up ATM machines too. Of course, the blind can drive too!
No, McDonald's won't serve walk-ups to the drive through. Not ANYONE. That's policy.
Eat earlier? Take a cab, catch a ride?
All of which was suggested to him when he was on talk radio few months back. His argument was simply "hey, when you have the muchies, you have the munchies" and he shouldn't have to pay for an uber or taxi to get a hamburger at a drive through.
Claimed that was discrimination too!

Its not an unreasonable lawsuit, imo.
So if this lawsuit is not ‘unreasonable’, how about one to force Chick-Fil-A to open on Sunday’s, or even stay open 24 hours a day.
I’m ‘inconvenienced’ if I can’t buy a chicken sandwich at 3am.

What I see happening if this guy wins is operators closing their drive-thrus at the same hour as their counter, avoiding the liability and safety issue altogether, besides most late night operations are net losses anyway. As a matter of fact operators will probably have a net savings in labor and utilities. The losers will be those who have cars and use drive thrus late night and, oh yeah, the employees cut from late night shifts.
In my area I've had not problems in the two or three times I've used the "Stroll-Thru" window after hours.
Evidently in the small town South, Fast Food restaurant owners figure that if they can trust night shift employees with the Cash register and keys to the store, then they can trust them to make wise decisions on customers and their mode of transport.
