I read some interesting comments by McMaster where he made reference to Eisenhower’s speech about the military industrial complex and scepticism about think tank war advocacy. In other words, the CIC in consultation with generals should make the decision about going to war and not Weekly Standard editors or resident scholars at People for a New American Century.

Agree with you 100%! As usual, it is the governments that drive the policies. I worked with Russian scientists, engineers, and conscripts in Kazakhstan back in 1988. Good people!!

Not secret any more.

We are always playing catch up and it seem to always end at the same place, to rearm to fight a large scale pitched battle with an equally powerful adversary.

COIN is a side show and there are lots of them. It is not the main mission.

Not really.

The US Military has plans to attack everyone and they have defense plans in case of attack from anyone.

These plans are constantly being revised and updated to reflect the changing realities in the world.

Why do you think officers spend at least a quarter of their time in schools of one sort or another?

Most officers retire with at least a master if not a PhD.

Woah he is the exact opposite of Flynn...personally I want someone in between. Not someone buddy-buddy with Putin, but not someone who sees Russia has such a great threat either.

I think, like Sec Mattis ("...Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet."), McMaster simply has a comprehensive view of the current operating picture. What more could you ask for?

Matthew 18:7
Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
