Seen my share of violent auto accidents and some deaths as well. We all cope differently and I confess I laugh at some of those now and again probably as a coping mechanism.
Who can say for sure what was going trough the minds of the father and the son but you can bet this wasn’t the outcome they were expecting. People do stupid things and some people are unfortunately in accidents, whether preventable or not. The stupid things are easy pickings for joking and laughter.
I bet if people go down to any police station they would be shocked at the humor by the officers. They used to call that gallows humor. Laughter does help.

You laugh about killing your enemies or something stupid like the horse fell on the randy woman or his mobile meth lab finally blew up
You don’t laugh about your dead buddies and cops sure as shit wouldn’t laugh about this
