The Cheat Sheet ^ | January 20, 2017 | Robert Yaniz Jr

In the past decade or so, science fiction on television has seen a dramatic uptick in both quantity and quality. Shows like Westworld are keeping critics engaged and audiences coming back for more week after week, but while a number of sci-fi shows over the years have developed significant cult followings, others have become notorious examples of just how bad the genre can be when it isn’t executed effectively. Here’s our look at some of the worst sci-fi shows to ever hit the small-screen. For the record, we’re focusing specifically on live-action series only. So any infamous animated shows won’t be appearing below.

I think Lost in Space was so bad it began to come out the other side as funny.

Gotta love the Robot, though. That was genius!

I thought Battlefield Earth was just a bad movie?
It was TV series?
I must have missed it!
Which is unusual for me, since bad SciFi is better then no SciFi!

Ironically, the space hippies episode has proven to be prophetic.

His problem was being born and raised in the sterile environment of a space ship, he could never visit a real planet, because he was allergic to everything.

Every wonder why allergies (like to peanuts) are common today, yet were rare 50 years ago?

UFO was a great series. The special effects were straight out of the Thunderbirds, but it was written well and at an adult level. The aliens as an analogy to the communist threat, with their psychological games and attempts at infiltration was light years from the clunky, red threat sci fi of the 50’s.

I regret Crusade which could have done well on it’s own was screwed up by the suits.

So was Firefly. And now Ron Glass is gone.

I was never aware of the TV series; however, Jenny Agutter remains even more memorable after seeing the TV photos.

IIRC, she was in the Capt America (Part 2) movie, too.

That’s right it’s a movie, but Logan’s Run was a movie.

I don’t think that dress was in the TV show.

Also, I don't know if you've checked, but most of the cast of Babylon 5 have passed. Jerry Doyle (Garibaldi) died last year.

What? No Lost in Space?

"Lost in Space" was one of those rare series that is so bad it was funny. The show apparently had a budget so tight the Jupiter spacecraft never went anywhere. It could have been titled "Lost on a Sound Stage". The saving grace of the show was Dr. Smith, the Robot, and I'll add in Judy Robinson as eye candy.
