Probably like this:
...only not green.
It is a personal decision
In a real gun fight, a revolver doesn't give you a single advantage. fact is, it handicaps you.
One thing, not mentioned yet, I believe, is the presence of a laser dot on someone’s chest/forehead. It can have a positive effect on the show down.
The one time I had to draw my CW in self-defense, the laser dot on his forehead caused him to drop, prone to the floor and beg for his life.
God Bless Crimson Trace.
get a little unburned gun powder trapped behind the star ejector and see how fast a revolver stops working.
Anyone have experience with the Chiappa Rhinos? A guy on YouTube sang their praises when he was arguing for revolvers as a carry weapon.
I have the XD40 with grip safety. Don’t carry it but have it as a bedside weapon. Have it stored in a case with finger locks.
Someone can also manually grip the cylinder to prevent movement, and if it has an external trigger it can be blocked.
Nothing is exactly perfect.
I also don’t want to shoot myself in the a$$, then have some smart aleck medical person ask “why did you do that”, and not have an answer.
I have decided to have an empty chamber for the piece of mind it provides.
Great if you have the use of both hands.
I have higher capacity guns, but a P-14 is not exactly easy to conceal.
When I open carry, that’s my choice. Cocked and locked.
I practice with my .357 frequently and have no issues, all steel so recoil is manageable. I chose this one because the lightweight ones do have severe recoil. I also carry and practice with a speed loader. I’m not as fast as Jerry Michalek, but getting there.
I carry loaded, condition 1, anything less is a club. Present and fire.
“Sorry, but the misnomer that a revolver never fails killed a number of FBI agents in the Miami shootout.”
It did nothing of the sort. No revolver there failed. Both bad guys were stopped by revolver fire. Matix was taken out early in the fight by 2 revolver rounds. At the end of the fight Platt and Matix both were given a full revolver load by Mireles that ended the fight.
The revolver and shotgun there were the only things that saved the day.
I think you meant external hammer, mine is shrouded.
“the misnomer that a revolver never fails killed a number of FBI agents in the Miami shootout”
No, what killed people at Miami was a guy who took a long time to die. And unless you blow a guy’s brains out, there will be enough residual blood pressure for him to shoot back - no matter where else hit - for 10-20 seconds. That is enough time for him to empty a gun into your chest.
Guns are not shields. They do NOT stop other people from shooting you. Period.
I’ve had two revolver failures in 40 years. I’ve had a S&W Shield jam multiple times...never figured out why.
There are no absolute rules in self defense.
I’ve seen them, but not shot them, no personal experience.
Yeah :)
And the FBI revolvers weren’t even using magnum loads. They were using the lead 158 SWHP +P .38 Special loads. The supposed weapon “failure” in Miami was the performance of the 9mm silvertip round.
Actually every weapon there was fine. It was FBI tactics that were lacking. They blamed the gun. And that is where the 10mm FBI gun came from, leading to the .40 s&w.
How was he able to see the dot on his forehead?
