Relocating for work to Texas from southern NH - looking for FReeper advice/input - been lurking out here for 19 or so years - best community to ask a question of. I know there'll be some snark, but anyway..

It’ll be another Malloy boondoggle. Lucky you escaped this nonsense!

Not as bad as Malloy's dedicated bus lane to nowhere. The train station won't be a complete boondoggle, it will make life easier for the cars that get backed up on Quinnipiac street. But yeah, it is a lot of hassle for the eight people who take Amtrak into New Haven/New York with any regularity.

When I ran for state Rep. (1996, against Mary Fritz, 90th District) a friend of my brother's asked me what I would do to protect the Metro North train line to New London, as he worked on it. I told him that I would do everything I could to discontinue it, but that he could drive the 15 passenger van that would replace it. He didn't like my answer, but he didn't deny that that would be sufficient either.

The gridlock on 281 stinks, but once you’re home....it’s worth it!!

Canyon Lake is somehow prettier than my lake, Travis, and I feel pretty grown-up that I can admit that, frankly :)

I understand that they didn’t make the commuter lots connected w/ the bus lane, large enough....so the people who want to use the service, have no place to park. LOL

Sounds like Connecticut, eh?

I’ve lost track, to see if anyone is using the service, as projected. I must admit, I’ve stopped caring about such things, lately.

I moved away from SA in 1995. A year or so before I moved, my credit union built a branch on a farm road in the middle of nowhere.

I asked them when it opened, “Why the hell did you build a branch on a farm out on De Zavala Rd? There’s nothing there.”

Answer: “Wait for it. We pride ourselves on being first. We won’t be the last.”

Then. The place blew up. I visited a few years later and didn’t recognize the place.

That said. North side. We lived near the medical center.

yep - the house I owned in NH had stupidly high property tax and, since I’ve been renting a few years, don’t really miss it at all
