A lot of Americans have hard feelings after last November's presidential election.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 40% of Likely U.S. Voters think the election has negatively affected their personal relationship with a friend or family member. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
That's a jump from the 26% who said just days before the election that the presidential race itself had already hurt their relationship with a friend or family member.
Contrary to the media and most pollsters who felt Democrat Hillary Clinton was a shoo-in for the presidency, Republican Donald Trump was the surprise winner. Fifty-four percent (54%) of voters who Strongly Disapprove of the job President Trump is doing say the election has hurt a personal relationship. Just 35% of those who Strongly Approve of Trump's job performance agree. (snip)
Women and younger voters are more likely than men and those 40 and over to say a personal relationship has suffered because of the election. But older voters agree with women that there is less political tolerance in America today.
Majorities across all political parties think Americans are less tolerant of others' political views, but Republicans (69%) believe so less strongly than Democrats (77%) and voters not affiliated with either major party (87%). Forty-seven percent (47%) of Democrats say the election has hurt a personal relationship, compared to 42% of Republicans and 30% of unaffiliateds.

Right on both counts !!!

Twasn’t this election that hurt the relationships. The relationships cracked when the Dark Won was elected for the office. Not enough Elmer’s in inventory to repair all the cracks found (if lucky enough to find all the pieces)
A plus is found — some persons you CAN live without.

Then I guess their relationship wasn’t as close as they thought.

You obviously know absolutely nothing about Joe McCarthy.

With my past dealing with liberals or really statists, I believe it is more than them being about politics. I think it runs much deeper than that and its a religion to these people. Americans rejected their religion or belief system of big controlling government run by them.
We'll never get to see their compassion and fairness if they are not in control. But people here understand what they believe fails every time just like other statisms including communism.
Human nature usually ends up corrupting what once looked like a good idea but they just don't get that or want to get that. They are the true believers and that is dangerous to our fundamental freedoms and liberty. Hopefully these snowflakes will eventually come to understand that before it leads to something worse, like civil war.

... after 8 years of the Marxist in chief, we are really beginning to see the hidden damage done to our citizenry— what’s been done may not be able to be undone. Some of the college protesters seen like the beginnings of the JV team — mission accomplished Obama.
These people are being paid.
I have been on FB, but a co-worker of mine said the exact same thing. She doesn’t even go there anymore.
haven’t*
Well i had a very close friend who was stabbed to death by an Obama worshipper so yes it affected me too.
My resolve on that is deeper than the deepest darkest trench in the ocean.
If the election hurt a personal relationship then you had bad people around you to begin with. I’ve disowned family for their liberal BS and it was long before this election.
Liberals are azzholes and if you hang around them then you’ve got issues.
Cool. These fascists need to be shunned.
It is funny that you mention the word compassion because earlier on Facebook I watched some college-age female getting emotional in a video because she and her roommates got into a major brawl, presumably about politics. Basically it was 7 minutes of her rambling and repeatedly saying "where is the compassion?". I was going to link to it in this thread, but it would be a waste of 7 minutes as she was failing to articulate anything meaningful.
TRUMP - Obamas True Legacy. Simply to cause maximum head-explodedness.
That was basically my tagline for most of January.
Now, I am on, “The news that never happened
“ like the spew for this thread.”
I dont want a relationship with a democrat
These people wouldn’t have this problem if they would get off their ass, get out there and get a job. A job would take their mind off of hating PRESIDENT Trump.
Its starting to get silly..
A positive personal survey in your business.
Re your, “Something is fishy here.”
That is why I have gone to my current tagline to describe articles like the one this thread is based on.
I'm not saying Trump is Jesus ... I am saying that right principle always divides people ... it divides the good from the bad.
