Hardball host Chris Matthews was on edge Tuesday night as he awaited President Trumps Supreme Court pick, grimly staring into the camera with an apocalyptic warning that Trump is, tonight, conducting a campaign of shock and awe against this countrys institutions putting Washington on defense.
Donald Trump is, tonight, conducting a campaign of shock and awe against this countrys institutions. He is on offense in a capital city not used to being suddenly thrown on defense, Matthews began in his opening diatribe.
Not acknowledging the fact that Trump was elected to shake up Washington, Matthews appeared uneasy that the President has the capital city suddenly bound up in fear, rage, and unbalance, wondering if this new President accepts any limit to his power.

DONATE Matthews continued with rhetoric questions for his fearful audience hiding under their covers:
Is he ready to attack the media, mock the Democratic leader of the Senate, accuse the acting-Attorney General of betrayal, seize power over immigration, and push the Republican Congress to near the breaking point? The answer to all of these questions is a resounding yes. He is and he is.
Turning to the Supreme Court announcement, Matthews whined that Trump will name as the decisive member of the United Supreme Court, the only branch of government he has yet to grab control amidst the political and legal chaos in the wake of President Donald Trumps executive order of last Friday.
Heres the relevant portion of the transcript from MSNBCs Hardball on January 31:

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Donald Trump is, tonight, conducting a campaign of shock and awe against this countrys institutions. He is on offense in a capital city not used to being suddenly thrown on defense. The capital of this country is suddenly bound up in fear, rage, and unbalance, wondering if this new President accepts any limit to his power. Is he ready to attack the media, mock the Democratic leader of the Senate, accuse the acting-Attorney General of betrayal, seize power over immigration, and push the Republican Congress to near the breaking point. The answer to all of these questions is a resounding yes. He is and he is. Tonight, within the hour, we hope to know who Trump will name as the decisive member of the United Supreme Court, the only branch of government he has yet to grab control and the political and legal chaos in the wake of President Donald Trumps executive order of last Friday, the President yet to is said to announce his choice to fill the vacancy to the Supreme Court in just an hour from now at 8:00.
Trump was elected. And the libs can’t believe he’s not appointing liberals to powerful positions. Matthews is right about one thing. D.C. and both parties are not used to a candidate doing what he said he’d do.
Who really listens to Chrissie the Sissy Matthews?
Chrisie had a chill down his leg today... but it was from pissing on himself with fear of Trump :P
Is Wasshington the zit? Or is Donald Trump?
And which will be squeezed first as the purulent pustule?
My bet is that Washington will be squeezed far before the Donald, who is the antiseptic.
And what we are seeing in Schumer and his obnoxious delay , political infighting, smear campaign, the last gasps of Leftist Obama liberal fascism, is the Obama pus itself, being elevated to the zit squeeze of the Century.

And that's why I love the old son of a gun. Thank you, Mr. President, and Keep on Trumpin'!
Well, I have been bound up by fear, rage and unbalance for the last 8 years
“Not acknowledging the fact that Trump was elected to shake up Washington”
Precisely, Trump is doing a fine job of shaking up Washington.
Does he still have that thrill running up his leg?
Keith Olbermann would like his script back.
Well, I have to give Matthews credit. He seems to be the first Democrat who is beginning to get a sense that Trump is a strategist. The term “shock and awe” is closely associated with the term “OODA loop”, which we conservatives have observed for more than a week. OODA describes the process at work by commanders on the battlefield: Orient, Observe, Decide, Act. Getting inside the enemy’s OODA loop means to act with such swiftness and completeness of information that the enemy’s decisions are always two steps behind, causing him a rapid disorientation, resulting in ineffectual action on his part.
It is the same operational concept, I think, as embodied in blitzkrieg (lightning warfare), and accurately describes the process that Trump appears to have unleashed on Washington...they don’t know whether to $hit or go blind, and are left flailing about without effect.
I’d certain say that there are definitely a lot of unbalanced people in DC, and on such stations as CNN, and MSNBC.
This is really bugging the press. They don't like Trump calling an act of betrayal betrayal.
“When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”
Think it’s going down his leg this time?
KYPD
Well said.
Fear and Loathing in Washington DC. Paging Hunter Thompson.
Liberals have become so used to getting their way, they've come to believe it's the natural order of things. Sadly, many conservatives have come to believe the same thing.
The new paradigm is going to take some getting used to on both sides.
Donald Martel, the hammer.
Matthews’s tinkle down the leg has morphed into a river of diarrhea.
